STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Decay

"Excellent. Then I will make the necessary preparations. You will not go alone, but be assisted by a very small task force, one that will not be show up on the scanners until it is too late."

Sparnik rises to leave, the deal having been made.

"I hope you understand that this is not a one-time job, Jedi. If I betray the Twins, then you are to help me win this war."

"I will help you stabilize your world under your command..." Con said...but he wondered if he did the right thing, or was this deal a mistake...he wished he could talk to his master.

Sparnik gives an approving nod, then leaves the cave. His man returns your blaster and your lightsaber.

For now, you feel as if you are doing the right thing. You don't like that Sparnik is trying to bind a Jedi to him, but at least he is fighting for the right thing. If Vono'k becomes stable, it will join the Republic! That in itself is great. But... the Republic is not interfering the civil war, so the Order would frown on you for taking the law into your own hands.

Will his man tell me about the enemies base?

He doesn't know anything about the mission, but he does offer to take you to your accomodations.

Very well, I should probably have a rest.

When the man takes you towards your accomodations, you are somewhat put at ease as to whether or not you are doing the right thing. You are taken to a small alcove where a sleeping mat has been set up for you... but on the way there you pass the massive cave where all of the civilians that Sparnik is protecting are living. Women, children, elders, all avoiding the onslaught of the Grotos, have come seeking his help and it has been granted. You doubt that the Grotos are protecting anyone.

After a short night of rest, you are roused from your sleep by one of Sparnik's men. He comes with a message from Sparnik, asking you to meet in Sparnik's 'office' again.

I will go there then.

When you arrive the small segment of cave is crowded with men in ragged clothing carrying blasters. Sparnik is at the center and smiles when you walk in.

"Ah, the Jedi has arrived," he says, causing all heads to turn towards you.

Surprised by the unexpected welcoming comittee, Con nods his head towards Sparnik as his eyes fly through the crowd.

Now that you look, there is an equal assortment of men and women in this bunch. About twenty-five total, all with blaster carbines and backpacks. A few have rocket launchers.

Sparnik returns the nod.

"So... the sensor array," Sparnik says, bending over an unfurled map, "is here along this ridge. It is about a day's march across the mountains to reach it... but you will all be taking separate, indirect routes. That way the bio-scanners will not pick you up before you get there, and the station will not be expecting an attack until too late. Is that clear?"

Various affirmations come up from the troops.

"Good. Once you start the battle, make it quick. Leave no survivors, take no prisoners, steal the supplies, blow up the station. Very simple, very direct..."

"Are you sure we're sending enough men for the job?" one of the fighters asks.

"Accompanying you will be the Jedi. His name is Con, and my hope is that he will be enough to turn the tide. Right, Jedi?"

"That is the plan, I will do my best to achieve this mission."

"While I am sure you all understand that you must succeed for the good of our movement... there is another reason," Sparnik says. "You cannot return if you fail. They would track your escape back to our cave, and our base would be forfeit. Victory or death!"

"Victory or death!" the troops shout.

That... is not something you are entirely comfortable with, Con.

"Sparnik seems to attract fanatics" Con thinks to himself, as he hopes that their cause is worth it. He certainly has no intention of dying just today, no matter how successful the mission is.

The attack itself will begin tomorrow. The sojourn to the sensor array will take you a full day to get over the mountains to the ridge that Sparnik speaks of.

If you would like to make any preparations, please do so now. Sparnik asks you not to concern yourself with explosives, his men will handle the demolition of the station.

What exactly does he want me to do then? Get his people inside? Kill as many of theirs as possible?

Essentially, yes.

I would like to discuss the plans the others have with them in order to utilize myself in the best way.

Everyone seems to think that you are going in first.

Sounds fair enough, really. Do they just want me to kill a lot of people in their way?
