i read with some reviews, theres parts in the movie where you think Marcus is attempting to do something decent and then he throws in more action.

Must relate to the decades when Marvel was publishing Conan, and Stan Lee was the official publisher then. Lots of messy legal action resulted in the late 1990's bankruptcy and restructuring, with Lee stepping down as publisher. Guess he's arguing Marvel may have relinquished the rights, but he didn't. A new movie was probably the juiciest time to launch the suit.

Watched the movie, my first 3d experience and it was good. I liked it a lot.

Really liked it. Having grown up reading the original Robert E Howard books, I think they did an excellent job portraying a young Conan. If they keep this up, and I hope they do, by the third film we will have somebody who makes sorcerers sh!t in their pants when he just looks at them... As the original Conan did.

The film grosses $48 million worldwide on a $90 million budget - there won't be a trilogy, or even a second film, for a very long time. Until the next reboot.

And when the next reboot comes i hope a better director comes onboard.

Seeing the success of Spartacus on the small screen, I wonder if the Conan rights holders might change their view and look at Conan being done for cable. A good opportunity to do stories in long form.

They already had an Conan the Adventurer show and it sucked. They cancelled it after 22 episodes.

Just finished watching the new movie, boy did that suck! I don't think there was any mention of Krom. the damsel in distress was in distress too much. Conan can't even lifter her while she is hanging from a chain?
Morgan Freeman's voice at the beggining does NOT fit! He's good if he's talking about penguins, but for this your need more oomph in the voice. the Asian guy in the original was way better, they should of got James earl jones to do the voice. and the music was the absolute shits no powerful theme at all!!

Yeah this movie was absolute crap. Ridley Scott should have directed this, and made sure that the actors spoke archaic English. Overall, the story was as soft and weak as baby poo. this was definitely a made for TV flick.

Damn - did any of you ever read the books? o_O I am getting this horrible, sinking feelng that the majority of posters are comparing this film with the Arnie Swhartzchxhenggerr film - which had about as much to do with Conan as my spelling of Arnie's surname did... :-/

I can say i did not, but the movies should be made for everyone not just the comic book geeks. the original Conan with Ahnold was great!! movie wise! the lines and characters were memorable. this new one was terrible. no memorable lines, Conan was a weakling, the opening sequence was just bad with Morgan Freemans voice.

I didn't much care for the new Conan movie. Some thing just seemed "off".

Lets hope it gets rebooted in another 5 or 10 years.

The movie could have been sooooo much better than this!

There comes a time when stylistic posing and clever camera angles just don't cut it.
Watch and listen to the commentary on the original Conan with Arnie and the director. It's hilarious, and interesting insights are explained throughout about the development of Conan as a character.

This new film had no raw complexities in Conan's personality. That's why the older one is better.

And also the theme for that one...epic
