I see Kubrick, but no Tarantino

Tarantino is above kubrick

Cheers for adding Tarantino and Kubrick. I shouldve known better and had em there to start with.

Whatta a shame I can't vote again now that Tarantino's name has been added. 🙁

well hopefully your vote went to other, and not someone else

I wonder if its possible to reset the votes.

I'm not really sure about this one. I'm usually not too picky on my directors but I would go with either Cameron or Spielberg.

That's right I picked "other"

Most Influential/Best Director

Hey, I want to see peoples opinion of directors of film.

My personal favourite would be Quentin Terantino BUT, i dont think he is the most influential director.

My choice would be Steven Spielberg. Movies like Saving Private Ryan, Schindlers List (powerful), Jaws, All the Indy movies, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Minority Report, AI, Jurassic Park, ET. Simple amazing. Cannot think of one director who has made an impact in film.

Other notables, Franic Ford Coppola, Alfred Hitchcock.

What do you people think of?

stanly kubrick, david fincher, guy richie, orson wells, hitchcock, john waters, darren aronofsky, danny boyle, some of burtons stuff, and of course quentin.

these are all the directors that i look to for anything cinema.

yah, good list. Im starting to like Danny Boyle.
Not a very big fan of Kubrick or Burton. But they have qualities that i just dont enjoy but i can how people like them.

Defiantly Alfred Hitchcock, the man is a genius who paved the way for generations of film makers to follow.

Also more recently : Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For a Dream ).

Well i dont really see Darren Aronofsky being in here. Not because he sucks but he has only done 4 films, and most people only now Requiem for a Dream. He's later films if are good then yes, he might.

Spielberg, hands down. For an up and comin director, Guillermo del Toro (Blade 2, Kronos, Devils Backbone)

As for Quentin Tarrantino, he's not influential on other directors, he's basically influenCED, because all of his work is a spin off of someone elses. On top of that, he's only had 2 Box Office success thus far.

He's just a cult hero.

Yah I give it too Spielberg also.

QT though, i find great, but he's isnt influential to the older directors, but for up and coming directors, i think he is. Its the same in music with Nirvana. Alot of bands now days, link them to their start as musicians.

Stanley Kubrick

Kubrick........he created masterpieces spanning many genres........not good movies, masterpieces.

Five words. A film by Steven Spielberg.

Spielberg is a great director.......but he has yet to make even one film that can compare to 2001 A Space Odyssey..........much less make great movies that span other genres like Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Lolita, Sparticus or Dr. Strangelove.

Spielberg has become quite wealthy in the industry for making big movies.........most of which are based around action or special effects, not an artistic style. Kubrick didn't produce films for movie fans......he produced films for cinema fans.

I feel a lot of younger people don't give him the credit he so richly deserves........simply because they have not seen most of his masterpieces as they were created before their time. You'd be surprised how many people havn't even seen Sparticus, A Clockwork Orange, or 2001.

Any fan of cinema walking this earth should see 2001 A Space Odyssey atleast one time. You will then see how a great story can be over shadowed by an even greater artistic style produced by a director.

Peter Jackson...Nothing else to say from me
