God exists and is a terrible and hateful being, or God does not exist.

Well the counter argument would be that people that go around saying "the end is nigh" usually don't get attention and there's no indication that Noah was given some sort of proof.

The fact that a drunkard was somehow able to build an arc of that size and complexity and the animals lined up two by two to board wasn't a good enough sign that something extraordinary was amiss? I might ignore a lifelong drunk holding a sign on the corner, but if he's got all the animals listening to him and working in cooperation I'd likely take a couple of minutes to check out what he was saying.

I realize that it's not an argument you yourself are making, I'm just pointing out the counter-counter argument.

OK so the counter-counter-counter argument could be that some guy came into town saying that the world was going to flood and then left to go out in the desert to build this cool Ark. Now unless you first believed this "fool" in the first place why would you go out into the desert to see this Ark? Most people were trying to find what they were going to eat that day much less take a trip out into the desert to see something that some guy said he was going to build.

Well, they could have driven out to the desert in their hoover cars to see the Ark. 🙄

I'm not absolutely positive on this so don't hold me to it, but I'm pretty sure there were people who saw him building the arc. It's been a while since I read the story, but it seems like I remember him being mocked about it for years while it was being constructed(I don't remember how long it took exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was a LONG time).

And if those people were so concerned with Earthly matters that they couldn't take a day to check out the story it kinda explains why they weren't "good" enough to get personal notice from God...

I've also wondered something about Noah, he was supposed to be 600 years old when he built the Ark. At what point in time did humans loose this SUPER LONG life span? We did the world that was supposed to be so sinful have the blessing from God of this long life span but after the flood when the Earth was purified the life span was shortened? Maybe it was all the inbreeding of Noah's family. 😘

Or could it have been the fact that it never rained? Or the regenerative powers of the crystals. Or all the space travel they did. You know, traveling at the speed of light. 😛

i just watch the earth stood still movie and realized that hollywood already explained what god was and how he worked the ark and the plague with science and tech.

You should watch Monster Ark. It's about Noah's secret second ark that had an invulnerable monster inside of it.

Supposedly God kept cutting down the maximum age as people kept doing bad things.

It never says that anyone ever say the Ark much less that Noah told anyone about it. It says that Noah was a preacher but that is assuming that he went and preached this. It also doesn't say where the Ark was constructed so it could have been an hour to weeks to months away from any city. I would assume that it would have to be in a large wooded area to have enough building material for him to construct it.

Now let us assume that Noah did the logical thing and build the Ark in the middle of a forest, this would allow him to cut the wood in a spiral pattern to reduce the time to get the wood back to the Ark. The height of the Ark was about 51 feet and most good building trees are at least that height or taller. So if he was building this Ark in the middle of a forest (since he doesn't have to worry about moving it) then you could easily not see it unless you know where you are looking. The animals would be in the forest so this wouldn't stand out as well.

Now assuming that at most it took Noah 100 years to build this thing pretty much by himself and his sons that wouldn't leave much time for him to take weeks if not months to travel to tell everyone of the coming flood. Now you may say that 100 years is a long time to build a ship but you consider that not only is it the time to build it but to actually make the material, cut down the trees and move them. Modern ships takes several years to build with thousands of men and modern tools. Then you add in the food, just one elephant over 190 days is 50 tons then you have the meat eaters. 😖

I watched that, bad movie but then I watch a lot of bad Sci-Fi movies. 😄

i have thought to myself and said self would you follow god in this day in age if his voice spoke to you and said build me an ark or spread my word to the masses, and i answered to myself wow god chose me but can i do what he ask? can i leave my home and family, friends to do gods will?

i mean the biblical ppl did it why cant i? and myself would answer sure they did it but it was simpler times ppl were more trusting it was before the crucifixion and small communities post 911 and the war on terror hell before the catholic church and its controversies. where will you stay what will you eat who will pay your bills not like their are wild game in the cities...hmmm god will you provide me with money food material for your assignment?

No you wouldn't. Someone else would probably have you committed but odds are you'd rationalize it into your own belief system.
