STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Liberator

"Now, Wentar... that does not mean I did not have opponents on the Commission," Farl says, with a tired smile. "Just that I am well-liked by those within it. I still have spats with one or two members that wish to become chairman themselves..."

For simplicity's sake, and for the sake of your original mandate of protecting the Senator, communication with the Council can be done from the comm room in Farl's suite. What do you want to say to them?

Assuming it's a fancy hologram communication Wentar will bow when communication is established.

"Masters, I do not wish to take too much of your time so I will keep this short. In light of the recent attacks against Senator Farl's life I ask that my mandate be extended to cover investigations into whoever is making these attacks."

If Senator Farl is not here Wentar will also have this to say. "The Senator doesn't think it is necessary but I feel he doesn't realize these assassins wont let up, not until they've been brought to justice or succeed in their mission."

Instead of discussing things with the entire Council, it is Mace Windu that discusses the matter with you. Farl is not present, nor is Emso; this is your mission.

"Extending your mandate to investigations is problematic, at best. It would involve you leaving the Senator's side in order to pursue whatever evidence you may have uncovered after the pair of assassination attempts. Or, the Senator would be required to accompany you, which could prove to be a hinderance. As these attacks have showed, he is not entirely safe in his suite, but it is the least exposed to attack.

"I am curious, however. Has the Senator mentioned why he does not want you to investigate the assassins?"

"He feels that once he returns to Triskatan the assassins will be unable to touch him amongst his own people and eventually give up. He also felt that having a Jedi protector would dissuade his attackers, unfortunately he was wrong there," Wentar replies.

"I am aware that protecting the Senator and investigating these attacks at the same time is not an easy task but I feel that I cannot keep him safe forever, if I do not put a permanent stop to these attacks I fear the worst."

Mace Windu does not seem entirely satisfied by your response concerning the Senator's preference for no investigation, but does not question further.

"Your concerns are justified, Wentar; we will see if, perhaps, we can alleviate you. If we can find a Jedi Knight to assist in your original mandate, we will inform you and you may pursue an investigation of the Senator's would-be assassins.

"What leads do you currently have, Wentar?"

Well if Wentar was satisfied with Farls reasons he wouldn't be speaking with Mace now.

"I have several tapes threatening and demanding the Senator step down from his Commission, this leads me to believe it is either a member of the Commission itself who wants Senator Farl's chairman position for themselves or slavers uncomfortable with the Senators progress," Wentar replies.

"There is also the impostor guards and the gas attack that may still hold clues."

Wentar pauses before adding, "Senator Farl thinks that a Dark Jedi in league with Pazol is involved, but I'm yet to see any proof there."

Mace nods.

"Send in the tapes for analysis," Mace says. "Discuss with Senator Farl who forms the opposition on his Senatorial Commission, but do not rule out the slaver theory. I understand the Senatorial Guard is handling the investigation of the assassins you foiled; their search will take time. As for the Dark Jedi Pazol... I find that paranoid. And unlikely. I also find the Senator's aversion to an investigation suspect; see what you can uncover, but do NOT, under any circumstance, allow the Senator know that you are examining him. Is that understood?"

"It is, Master Windu," Wentar says with a short bow. "I will speak with Emso about any remaining tapes and send them in immediately."

"Good," Mace Windu says. "There is one more thing. If the Senator's paranoia concerning Pazol or an associate of such a man prove to have any basis in fact... you will let me know immediately. Pazol was a dangerous man, and any spawn of his tutoring would be also."

"Of course," Wentar says. "I should get to work on those tapes now. Thank you for hearing me out. May the force be with you, Master Windu."

"And may the Force be with you," Mace Windu says.

And so that leaves Wentar at the Senator's suite... what now, Master Jedi?

Time to find Emso and have a chat about those tapes.

Emso is in his quarters, steam-pressing one of the Senator's expensive outfits.

"Hello, Wentar," he greets as you enter, not looking up from his work.

"Greetings, Emso. I hope I'm not disturbing you," Wentar says, entering the room. "I wish to talk to you more about those tape these assassins have been leaving."

"Oh," Emso says. "What of them?"

You sense that is nervous.

No force point Scan.

"I wish to know if there are any others that I haven't seen yet," Wentar replies. "And I'm curious about the arrival of the latest one."

"Not that I know of, sir," Emso says. "What about it?"

Scan says: Emso is definitely feeling nervous about something, especially in your presence. And... guilty. He feels guilty about a related something.

"I'm just confused about the whole timing of it's arrival, I wanted to see if you had any thoughts on the matter..." Wentar says, pausing for a second. "You seem nervous, is anything wrong?"

"No, nothing," Emso answers quickly. "What confuses you, Master Jedi?"

Wentar will cock his head a little in a questioning matter at Emso's fast answer.

"The timing of the tapes arrival, why send a threat just after the attack starts? Are you sure it wasn't sent beforehand?"
