STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Liberator

Another airspeeder, like the one that was victimized in the bombing, has been arranged for Wentar and Farl to travel to the Senate. This time, the only security provided is Nartholen and Walder, both of whom you recognize now and have not been replaced with imitators. And yourself and Emso, of course.

Where are you inspecting?

Quick poke around the cockpit, if they are going to try anything I doubt they'll play the engine card again.

Though I honestly doubt anything will go wrong with the airspeeder today.

Better safe than sorry, or so the saying goes. But indeed, once you have satisfied your compulsive need to check the airship, Senator Farl gets on board and the vessel leaves for the Senate. Unlike before, you do not have a nagging sense of danger. You almost feel relaxed. Almost.

"So, we are not going to blow up this time?" Farl asks. "My Senatorial aides are yet to be replaced; I will have to pick new ones when I return to my homeworld."

"Blow up? No I highly doubt it," Wentar says, several other worse scenarios running through his head. "I'm sure we'll make it unscathed this time."

Paranoia must be getting to him, Wentar can relax properly when all this is over.

"I will trust your instincts there, my friend," Farl says, with a warm but tired grin.

The airspeeder does indeed make it the Senate without so much as a scratch on it, let alone without being ripped open from within by a bomb. When you arrive, you are greeted by a man standing near the docking platform, wearing gray robes pulled about him, the hood raised.

I assume Wentar doesn't recognize him. I'll let Farl do the talking here, since it's sorta his dealie we're going to.

Scan Mr. Gray-Robe, no force point.

Difficult to recognize someone when they are wearing a hood, Wentar. Your Scan yields that this person is a friend and someone you know.

Better then a threat.

"Hello there," Wentar says with a small wave, unsure what to make of this new arrival.

"Hello, my old friend," the man says. He reaches up and lowers his hood, revealing the face of Altar Vynn; for the purpose of portrayal, he will be played by a fit Paul Giamatti, with his hair and beard trimmed neatly. He smiles warmly. "I trust your flight went well?"

(Heh, that actually suits my mental image of him quite well, also it's Vynn.)

"Altar!" Wentar says, breaking into a smile, extending his hand. "Yes the flight went quite smoothly. I can't say I expected to see you here today."

Despite the scene from that fateful day on Ryho burned into Wentar's mind and his slight hesitance towards the councils reinstatement of him, Wentar still respects the man who spent years teaching him the ways of a Jedi and about life in general.

(Blame German; W's sound like V's, and I was studying.)

"The Council informed me that you needed investigative work done," Altar informs you, taking in a low voice; he speaks in a higher voice when excited. "It just so happens that I was on Coruscant, and they asked if I would like to work with my old Padawan again."

Senator Farl is watching the exchange inquisitively.

Wentar is surprised at first, then shift to happy as he realizes this means his old master is slowly but surely regaining confidence in his abilities.

"That is good news," Wentar says, before realizing that Senator Farl is listening to the whole conversation. "There is much we need to discuss."

He turns to Farl. "Senator, I'm sure you don't want to miss the start of these discussions. Nartholen and Walder will keep you safe and I wont be long. There are just some more... personal things I wish to talk about with my old master."

Truthfully, reminiscing with Altar isn't on top of Wentar's list of things to do. He just needs the Senator out of here so he can tell Altar the full story and find out what the Council has told him so far, that dealie.

"If you insist, Wentar," the Senator says, "though I am not sure who this is I am seeing."

"I am Altar Vynn, Jedi Knight," Altar informs him, stroking his beard absently. "Wentar is an old friend of mine."

"Ah, his trainer," Senator Farl says. "My pardon, sir. Wentar has spoken of you and your exploits. Please, do not let me interrupt you. I will surely be safe within the Senate."

"Surely," Altar says.

Nartholen and Walder escort Senator Farl into the Senate building, with Emso trailing behind. He eyes Altar inquisitively, but moves on, leaving you alone with your old master.

"That could have been more awkward," Wentar says, watching the Senator leave. "I haven't told Senator Farl that I've spoken to the Council about investigating these attacks, he's been against the idea every time I bring it up... Master Windu asked me to uncover why Garys Farl is against it, not an easy task..." He trails off in thought.

Wentar really needs to start looking more into that. Not sure where to start though...

"What has the Council told you so far, Altar?" Wentar asks, snapping back to reality.

"They told me that you were going to tell me what you need to tell me," Altar says, with a grin.

Wentar runs a hand over his forehead. "Where to start?"

"Well, Senator Farl has been receiving threats against his life, he requested the aid of a Jedi in hopes that it would end the threats. Unfortunately it hasn't, there have been two attacks so far. One here, a bomb placed on his shuttle by two assassins impersonating Senatorial Guards and one in his own suit, someone hacked the security and gassed the room. Both times I've only just succeed in saving his life," Wentar explains wearily.

"Of course that's expected when being a bodyguard, what concerns me the most is Senator Farl's aversion to investigating these matters. He seems to believe he'll be fine on Triskatan something I find hard to accept. That's why I talked to the Council, someone needs to investigate this because I know I can't keep Farl safe forever. I'm trying to do my part, but there is only so much I can do without leaving the Senator vulnerable."

Altar considers what you say.

"Wentar, I believe it is your duty to continue protecting the Senator," he says finally. "You have done well so far and have gotten close to the Senator, closer than I would get. So why not have me perform the investigative work? Allow me to get a look at the evidence and we can see where things go from there. What evidence have you?"

"Alright," Wentar says with a nod. "I have some tapes, threatening Senator Farls life, those have been sent in for analysis. There are the two impostors, both deceased, they are still trying to figure out who there are, their fingers and toes were replaced with cybernetics, making finger prints impossible. I haven't received any word on the gas canister and the signal jammer left by the last attack..." Wentar stops, thinking again.

"I believe that's all I have, I was planning on talking to a few members of Senator Farls commission, there's a chance they may be trying to bump him off for his chairman seat, it's just a hunch though, the attacks could also be caused by outer rim slavers or, according to Senator Farl anyway, a Dark Jedi. Though I strongly doubt the last one."

"Do not rule out possibilities, Wentar," Altar reminds you. "Only give credence to those that seem more likely, as the evidence mounts. I will take to investigating, my old friend. You get in there and continue what you were assigned to do, and perhaps talk with the politicians, if you have any suspected."

"Yes, Altar," Wentar says, with a short bow before turning to leave. "I look forward to hearing about what you uncover... May the force be with you, my old Master."
