STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Liberator

The devices that emit the laser wall are protected by the laser walls themselves.

Neither Wentar or Farl have the override codes? Could Wentar use the Force to disable the device?

You have the override codes. You are just unsure if they still work.

You would need very precise use of the Force to break these machines.

Would that consist of a force point spending or a force skill I don't have?

It would require the Force power Precision to manipulate inner parts of the device so that it breaks. Otherwise telekinetic meanderings are rather blunt.

Damn. Lets try the codes.

You enter the passcodes... and a stairway is clear! You can descend one level.

Ten to go...

This is a stupid waste of time isn't it?

I'll move on to the next level. But humor me, it'd be a whole lot easier going for the Detention area wouldn't it.

You would actually be up against the same problem, just less floors! Think for a moment, though; jumping between levels is an easy task for a Jedi like Wentar, whereas Farl can't do it. How could he come with you still?

The next set of laser walls shuts off, and the next, and the next, leaving you with seven floors before you suddenly find that the passcode fails to work.

"They've done it!" Farl snivels. "They've hacked the security system!"

I should have sent Farl away in the shuttle... damnit!

There is nowhere relatively safe for him to hide is there?

Not particularly. The doors leading out of the stairwell have more or less vanished into the wall as Triskatani liquid covers over them. You cannot distinguish where they were. Which leaves you with open stairs.

I think you are complicating things a bit. If it is possible for you to make it down in a fashion that I mentioned, you should find a way for Farl to come with you.

Well! Thanks to some subtle hinting, 😛 Wentar will elect to carry Farl down the rest of the way. With Leaping mastery an agility penalty wont hurt too much.

Farl is perturbed at you picking him up, but down you go! You take a -2 Agility penalty for carrying him while performing acrobatics... but I will be kind and deduct it after Leaping doubles your pool, putting you on six dice. You roll just fine and land a floor below. Nine to go!

Nine? I thought it was seven left.

I've already thought of another issue. If the doors are covered by liquid, how will we get out when we reach Drufter's floor?

Oooh, my bad. You have six floors left, not nine.

Ah, that is tricky. The Triskatani liquid would reform around your lightsaber incision, no matter what. Wentar is no expert on the material, but his current company seems to have expressed decent knowledge.

I'll have to poke Farl when we get there then. Moar jumping down!

To speed things along, I will make all the rolls necessary to get down. You need two successes to land safely and comfortable, but you take five falling damage per success missed. Leaping reduces falling damage by half, of course, so that is not too staggering.

Here we go:

Second jump- three successes! You spring down with no problem.

Third jump- another three! Again, no problem.

Fourth jump- Just one success this time. You take 2 damage.

Fifth jump- One again. 2 more damage, but you're close!

Sixth jump- Two success, a comfortable landing.

Seventh jump- On the last jump, you nearly hit a laser wall and take 5 damage due to no successes being rolled. Farl yelps, then opens his eyes to see that you are standing about where the doorway should be.

"We're there, then?" Farl says. "I never want to do that again."

"Fair enough," Wentar says distractedly, examining the walls. "Seantor, you claim to know a lot about the Triskatani liquid. Is there anyway we can manipulate the liquid and access the doorway on this floor?"

"Hmm," Farl says, when you put him down. "As you know, the liquid operates on physical contact... it becomes liquid when tapped and solid when tapped again. Right now it is in an in between state, due to introduction to an electrical current. If you interupt it, maybe..."

So we have to halt an electrical current... The only thing I have with me is my Lightsaber.

How is the current being introduced? Is there a spot on the wall where the electricity is originating from that Wentar can cut into?
