Judging by the first chapter they have available there, Necromancers are going to be staying.
Also the map is quite neat.
a. Awesome screenshot
b. Interesting further info on Ranger

I very much like the pet info they have in there - you can switch them! And they're your level automatically so you don't have to waste time trying to level one up! And they can have different roles depending on what it is! Awesome. And the whole acrobatic melee thing is very much up my alley.
I've always liked Ranger, but so far it's looking that if there's no Dervish in GW2, I might shift back to being primarily a Ranger. Funny, considering that's what I started out as in GW 😛

...I read that article, but must have missed that.
YAAAAY!
Well, there's my magic class 😄
Which doesn't leave much room. They said some classes would be ported over, some would be revamped and some would be new.
Well, Warrior, Elementalist and Ranger have been ported. I suspect Necromancer will not have fundamentally changed (there is speculation the Necro will take on the Ritualist mantle, but there's nothing to back it). If Mesmer comes across the same way, that only leaves three classes to be either new or revamped.
It may still be possible that the Mesmer is revamped. Apart from that, the hot picks on the remaining three are:
- 'Mace Woman' (as seen in concept art, wth the same thematic colour as the GW1 Monk- note all other thematic colours from Gw1 have remained in tact). This is rumoured to be the second Soldier class, possibly a kind of Monk/Paragon hybrid- a support Warrior.
- Some kind of Gunner, seeing as Rangers don't use guns (and one of the silhouettes, as discussed, is blatantly gunny).
- An updated Assassin, maybe renamed in the vein of rogue so they don't sound evil or can be broadened.
One other class will have pets though, apparently.
In turn: Rumoured Mesmer, Assassin/Rogue and Monkagon. Or Paragonk.

Higher level cap, but easy to hit. I approve. Leveling is a pain in the ass, even with how easy it is in GW.
Well, they've pretty much always thumbed their noses at what's traditional in MMOs (Arenanet was started by people who left Blizzard because they didn't want to work on yet another cookie-cutter game). And while they're adopting a few things that are done in most MMOs (going to persistent worlds instead of having everything instanced), seems that for the most part - especially with not having a dedicated healing profession and making leveling easy - they're continuing to do so.
They overplay the 'indestructible Norn' angle too much. They were like this in EOTN as well, saying that a small Norn group is all they need rather than an army, which is a statement simply not born out by what actually happens in game.
Come GW2, they are going to have comparable health to everyone else, and that's going to disappoint those who have read the material and think they can hold off a hundred times their number.
Yeeeaaah, how many times should he have died and instead came out of it still alive? To be fair, during the entire thing in the Dragonbrand, it was a life transfer spell that kept him alive, but even so.
(also I got a teeny bit annoyed that
Spoiler:and yeah.)
they killed off Killeen as fast as they did, because of course I liked the sylvari
...really made me want GW2 now though. And I passed the book along to my little sister last night to read. She is going to love the charr.
