Guild Wars 2 finally starts to come to life

Note that the image is revealing itself as professions are revealed.

That looks like a charr carrying a big gun in silhouette on the far left, so I assume that is the gunner class. It has been mentioned before in interview (always subject to change, of course) that there will be a class that can use only guns and one that can use bows but not guns (the already revealed warrior can use either, it seems), so that gives 'Gunner' and 'Ranger' (placeholder names) as two more to come.

Warrior is one of the two heavy classes- will one of the ranged classes take the other heavy spot, or will they both be Adventurers? A Gunner might make a good choice for the other heavy.

Meanwhile, rumour is still running rampant that Monks will either be absent or radically re-done. Here is a quote:

Isaiah Cartwright – Game Designer: Healing in GW2 is different from most other MMO's. One of our goals is that you should always be happy to see other players and this shouldn't change based on their profession, race, skill choices, or anything else. Which means each player needs to be slightly more self sufficient so that one particular profession is not required to do any given type of content. It's why we made the healing slot a required part of the skill bar. It allows us to make the heal skill powerful enough so players can take care of themselves. There will still be ways to support your allies and some professions will specialize in support but no single profession is always required.

OOh, if the other heavy is a Charr in the silhouette, i think theres a good chance Cannoneer might be the second heavy class. Since the charr invented firearms.

Rumour has it, though, that the other Heavy will be more of a support warrior class- be that Cleric or Paragon.

Yeah, that is definitely a Charr with a big gun to the left there.

i could definetley dig somesort of smite/warrior blend, although gw takes a very anti warrior/magic stance in the first game. But it could happen, afterall they've blended warrior/ranger for the video shown, so maybe theyve blended warrior/spellcaster for the other heavy.

Warrior/Magic = Dervish.

So, yes. I'd be all for that 😄

Though a Paladin-y or Paragon-y type suits me well, so here's hoping.

You just want to poke things with a spear.

Yes!

Not really much in the way of actual game info, but a neat thing about some of what goes into the design of the game, as well as some nifty in-game history.

I am amused.

Here you go, Ush. You're going to like this article.

Dying and being defeated isn't the big penalty like it was before, and there is no dedicated healing class. Monks are out, it appears.

Awesome! Yaaaaay!

Well, we had certainly discussed the possibility, and I think it is a damn good thing that more RPs should look at.

Christ, there is going to be a riot from the Mhenlo fans though.

I know I certainly like the idea of no dedicated healers. Playing a Monk isn't even fun, nor is having to have at least one slot in the party required to be one.

And 😂 I think they will live.

Not without a healer!

...okay, but seriously, who's a fan of Mhenlo?

...then again, any monk Henchman is better than Alesia or Danika...

Mhenlo's been in Guild Wars from day 1 and has a role in every campaign; don't underestimate the nostalgia crowd.

Smart changes. MMO's are going to have to start breaking the mold like this if they're ever going to truly compete with the likes of WoW. Copying WoW won't cut it, progressing past it, though, will.

Class number 3 to be revealed this week!

Yeah, I saw that...curious as to what they're going to reveal this time.
