Apparently it is because they will be unable to finance their costs with a no-subscription fee service and they fear that if they charge subscription fee than demand will repaidly crumble due to comeptition from higher budget mmos with mroe experienced teams working on them such as world of warcraft and the old republic.
Basically they have been relying on not charnging a subscription fee to make sails, but they no longer think that will be enough.
This IS legit btw and i would believe kid's brother's friend's cousin when that person is lead designer and sound mixer for the game..
dont shoot the messanger...
It seems the presence of WOW and TOR has been great deal of stress for the designers and investors of the game. They have been worried with competing with mmos that have much higher budgets and more experienced developers with greater proven success rate... especially with poor reviews for early beta gameplay and poor storyline.
Also it is been reported that the designers now see that they should have created tank/healer/dps dynamis to begin with and that the classes they have created have lead to almost crippling, irrepearable balancing issues with major lack of focus.
Its a sham i was rooting for them but it seems... that ArenaNet will probably have to file for bankrupcy and go insolvent, or at the very least accept merger with small developer like, maybe the developers behind runescape, but then they may have to transfer existing assets for guild wars to for development of further ruenscape expansion packs...

Thank you for proving that you were talking out your ass and just trying to troll. You can't even namedrop properly.
Hint: Mike O'Brien is not the lead designer. Also, they're a studio of nearly 300 employees. They have more than one sound mixer, and I can tell you none of them are the lead designer.

Sources, please.
Because not a word of that is true.

Nope. Lead Designer is a specific title and it is not Mike O'Brien.
I can't believe that someone is seriously trying this bullshit with me here 😂 You obviously do not know my reputation when it comes to this game, it's community, and the devs.

Well it is Mike O'brien I am talking about who cres if i get his credentials wrong.
Well for starters, it completely and totally torpedoes any possible credibility you may have possibly had and firmly puts you in the camp of "troll who cannot even google properly".
I want to see those sources for the poor feedback from the betas, as well as designers saying they wished they'd gone with the holy trinity setup after all, as well as the lack of balance between professions.

I'm simultaneously cracking up and facepalming. Tempted to post a link on twitter...let some of the devs see it 😛
Hmmm. I just spoke to my contact again and it seems that, as i type this, that it seems that there are major talks and engotiations between arena net and Jagex for some kind of crossover between the two titles, and apparently mike spearheaded the merger as it would coincide with major drop in the graphics budget that they were forced to accept, but still enable them to maintain development of the game and so it dosnt become vaporare, though their original vision of the game has been significantly altered and pretty much nothing from the beta will make it into the final game.
Apparently they might even try to host it on a web browser or maybe even with such gameing sites as newgrounds to cut programming costs. This way they migth eb ableto fund their no subscription fee service.

Man you are so spectacularly wrong it's hilarious. Thanks for giving me a laugh!
Hint - sub-based games are no longer sustainable (nearly every one to come out in the past five years has failed or gone free to play, and the big remaining ones - WoW and Rift, and TOR is going to do this as well next month - offer free play to a certain level). And they've managed to keep a game running for over 7 years now on nothing but box sales and a very small and modest cosmetic cash shop. No sub and cash shop has been proving to be a far more profitable business model.
You're basically claiming they'd completely and totally remake the game - a game that is nearly ready to be released - in order to save money. Even though that would cost far more.
You do know that ANet is owned by NCSoft, who basically goes "Here's our money, do your thing", right?
I really want to believe what youre saying and hope that the game doesnt get stripped down to tis assets and used for other projects, but my brother claims that his contact s extremely reliabler and he has alreayd knwon him for over 7 weeks.
More news: Jagex are considering absorbign arenanet as a first party subsidiary and mergring guild wars 2 with one of the runescape expansions but on the condition that they fire lead writer Jeff Grubb and replace him with Bobby Stein who they feel has been udnervalued by the company (and is apparently married to sister of CEO of Jagex - the only reason Jagex are considering the crossover).
Also as Arenanet have appeared to find it very diffficult to hire anybody who knows how to writ code compatible with PCs they are considering instead of a PC or console release a worldwide release on the Ipad OS and possibly the Sony Vita though they are as yet unware of what they will do with two analogue sticks and foresee some changes having to be made with the classes to accomodate the enw control scheme. They have even have talks of chanign action gameplay to something more turn based and hriign Square Enix so that tehy cna use their ATB system.
I just wanted to let you know that Peach actually knows and regularly talks with several of the people you're attempting to namedrop as vague references. She knows first-hand precisely how BS your claims are, because you're essentially talking about her friends.
But keep talking yourself into a corner. It's entertaining.

I can't even...😂
ANet is owned by a company that has absolutely no reason to let them go, the game is not going to be stripped down for assets and used for other stuff, it has already made a significant amount of money, Bobby is the lead writer and has been for years (I got to freaking interview him for ****'s sake) and is certainly not married to anyone who's related to anyone at Jagex, they have absolutely zero problems hiring people who can code for PC being as THEIR ONLY PROJECTS ARE PC GAMES, Square-Enix does not own the concept of an ATB system...
So what trash are you going to invent next? 😛
Ok this is quite promising. Apparently, my contact was sayign that eh spoke with spokesperson of NOE (Nitnendo of Eurpope) and that the representetvaie was syaing that usually nintendo ould never dream of taking on a studio that has only ever developed a single game, especially a free to play one at that that never saw comercial release, but Nintendo wish to stp into MMO market and despite poor reviews and low sales the games did have a sroeng and veyr loyal cult following.
He was also saying that Nintendo will leave them alone for the most part, though they did have a few conditions. For one, they will be forcing Arenanet to raise the level cap as one of the reasons for Guild Wars 1's fauilure in the MMO market was that it couldnt keep players interested once they reached the level cap snd what was basically happwning was that people were playing to level 20 in a matter of weeks, and then going back to games like WoW and Age of Conan, never to play guild wars agaion. So they will be raising level cap to 100. Nintendo are also demanding that they add mounts to the game, and as paort of a wii u exclusive evrsion they will be granting players access to their own exclusive level 30-40 Yoshi mount that they think will attract a wider seelction of players to the game. Also, when playing the game all the action will take place on the Wii U controller screen and will be fully touch controlled, and the tv screen will isntead be sued for an advanced social and chat interface. Also to further compete with the likes of TOR they will be making the game fully voiced, though because they lack the Bioware budget they will only be using a single voice actor to play all the many characters, and he will probablky be one of the writers or sound mixers of the game.
I will get back to eveyrone here when I hear more enws but this is at elast looking quite promising.
