Guild Wars 2 finally starts to come to life

Broadly yes, but you can openly guest onto any server if you want to play with international friends, and the friends list works cross-server.

Are the servers continent restricted?

They're separated into NA and EU servers, but you're not actually restricted into playing on one or the other.

Right, same as SWTOR then.

In SWTOR you cannot guest over.

Related, your characters in GW2 are not server bound, they are account bound, so you can take them to any server. You do get a 'home' server set for various reasons but it does not bind them there.

Aaah, that's novel. Think I like it.

Yup yup.

Guesting has been disabled thus far in the betas, but for example, I've been playing on a NA server and Ush on a EU server, and I could easily guest on his (or vice versa) if we wanted to do something together.

Your home server is basically for if you're doing WvW.

Unlike frigging Diablo, on which we can't even chat...

Couldn't even add each other to our friends lists until you hopped over to the NA servers!

Terrible design there...

So, as ArenaNet is awesome, and I am awesome enough to be on their list of "kickass fansites" apparently, they gave me 25 beta keys to give away.

😛

Alright, I'll bite. What do I have to do to get one? Bake you a cake? Vote you Mod of the Year? ...create an idol in my closet? 😛

Try entering 😛

I'm currently terrified of what my inbox must look like. I'll probably cut it short so I actually have time to sift through everything. One of my friends did a joke contest last time and got a thousand entries 😐.

Everything's being deleted before this beta, though. Guess I won't be doing Ascalon Catacombs...

I don't mind too much, as I was fully intending to spend the entire time playing as a sylvari, but still, that kinda sucks.

Well crap! The server I play on is gone 🙁

All of us on Eternal Grove that I play with decided to move to Jade Quarry for now. Hoping that it comes back for launch, though. I liked that server, and I liked the name.

Mine's gone as well actually. Boo!

Servers went up early again, and I'm not home. Ahhhh! I want to make my sylvari!

Not that I've decided on a profession still...

So.

1. Sylvari are awesome. Enough said.

2. I'm enjoying Guardian way more than I thought I would. I've been using sword and torch the most thus far. Hammer is also damn fun, and I all have staff, mace, and focus fully unlocked. I'm gonna try greatsword next.

Also, I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like this time around the game is heavier on the CPU than it was before. My computer was running warm enough to worry me, and certainly more than it had during the previous BWEs.

Also, one of the first things I did was visit the Pale Tree 😄

So, after day two...

- Finished the personal story for my guardian for the options I picked. Got some awesome lore answers, as well as more questions brought up. Damnit I cannot wait for release to see where that goes.

- Still really like Guardian.

- Vistas are fun.

- I want more armor variety. I know it's low level stuff, but I'd been hoping that starter armor for sylvari differed from the others, but it's the same stuff that humans and norn have. Hmph.

- There's a renown heart in Brisban Wildlands that has some great GW1 nostalgia.

- There's also an event in Metrica Province that is probably the most frustrating thing I've come across yet. I'd heard people complaining about the difficulty, but I didn't think it was as bad as they were saying. Goddamn was I wrong. For the record, it's a fire elemental spawned in an asuran lab. The leadup to the room it's in is this narrow bridge, which makes it hard to actually get to the damn thing, and it does all sorts of AOE attacks all the time. I wound up being the one repeatedly ressing and healing everyone (wooo, Guardian), so even though I was probably the single person who'd been up and doing things the most through the whole fight, I got zero credit for it. Quite annoyed at that.

- Skritt are adorable.

Whoa, they have seriously improved the sceptre and staff for the Guardian- much longer range on both, a huge spread for the staff attack and a new skill for the staff also. I hear they improved the hammer also. Darn it, now I don't know what to pick...

Oh yeah. I've got everything full unlocked for Guardian, and none of them feel inferior to another weapon.
