Guild Wars 2 finally starts to come to life

Lvling my elementalist. Seems a lot harder to play than my warrior. Lvl 10 now and mobs take longer to kill and multipulling seems risky as I've nearly died quite a few times when pulling 3-4 mobs at a time when there are ranged mobs around. Never had this prob on my warr til I was about in my lvl 70s. Hmmm.

Can you really not join a pvp with a friend?

I don't do PvP, so I don't know.

And of course an elementalist is going to be less survivable than a warrior. They're a scholar class, not a soldier. You can't aggro a bunch if stuff and expect to survive. Eles are amazing at damage though, what weapons/attunements are you running?

Angry Joe says you can't.

That's what made me ask. Since peach knows the team I figured she might know if there's some special way.

Though Angry Joe got a lot of things wrong, so yeah.

I think hot-join PvP is random, but I think you can also create teams. As I said, though, I don't do PvP, so I don't really know. It isn't something that interests me at all so I don't waste any time with it.

Yeah I think he said u can make a whole team. But can't with like say me and you be joined by another partial team

2 million in sales as of today!

Why not join up with another partial team while still in the Mists?

That's what I'll do when I start playing pvp, but was just curious.

Neph, you plan on getting the game?

Nope. I burnt out my graphics chip playing ME3 and Swtor.

I am enjoying DC online on the PS3 though.

The 2 million sales figure also has to be seen in light of them shutting off sales at the end of last month and only re-activating them a few days ago.

Still, like I said a few pages back, games can sell millions these days and flop- which is nuts- so a long way to go yet.

Yeah - they shut off sales two days after initial release.

I'm pretty sure this game is in no danger of flopping though at this point.

Aaaaaand I just hit level 80! Hopped back to town to make myself a set of 80 armor, and just crafting the insignias for it gave me half a level and got me there.

Woohoo! 😄

Edit: Now broke, but worth it, because the tier 2 sylvari cultural armor is absolutely gorgeous. IT EVEN GLOWS.

Now I just need to get runes for it, and get some level 80 weapons, and then blow my karma on cultural weapons and transmute them 😄

Currently using the staff atm. I focus on air attunement due to the speed boost (once you go horn on the warrior, walking slow just doesn't feel right) and the dependable non DOT-based damage. Heard good things about D/D and S/D on elementalist, tho. So far, however, tried both weapons and didn't find see much of an improvement on the damage.

I've never had to work so hard to kill things on my warr at this lvl, tho. I kite and I use my CC CDs a lot and have had to switch attunes on the fly to access other snare/stun CDs just ti stay alive when multipulling. Never had to CC or heal as a warrior unless I'm facetanking vet mobs while using my GS. Regular mobs (even in grps) die in a few hits.

Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong. Will check play around with my build again once I get back home (spending the weekend at the beach).

Staff is for support as an ele, for the most part. You want to go scepter/dagger or dagger/dagger for damage.

You're also very low level and don't have your utility skills all unlocked yet, let alone anything resembling a decent stat set up, most likely. Play a bit more before you decide it isn't worth it because eles are amazing as they're very good at high-damage AoEs.

And, as I said. Eles are scholars. Warriors are soldiers. Warriors have high health and armor and eles do not. Get used to kiting and using crowd control because you will need to do so with every single other profession in the game - warrior (and sometimes guardian) are the only professions that can just stand in one spot and beat on things, and even that's not possible quite frequently. This is a game where if you're standing still in a fight, you're doing it wrong. And I say that as someone who frequently solos veterans in melee range as a scholar - movement, kiting, and dodging are musts to be successful.

You're also supposed to swap weapons/attunements frequently. They give you that ability for a reason, and if you're not doing it you're not making the best use of your abilities.

They've started tweaking traits already, Guardians got two of theirs merged and a new one created that gave Chill to Hammers at the same time as giving Hammers a gap closer on one of their skills. Chill looks a bit weird to me on a Hammer as I don't think Hammer users would use the trait line that would make Chill better, but I hear it is a popular move.

Nice to see the two Guardian Shield trait abilities merged as that brings them to par with Warriors who already had both abilities in one anyway.

Any other change?

A lot of tweaks but that was the biggest. I am sure more will come.

A thief skill got nerfed a bit, a couple mesmer greatsword skills were debugged so they're more responsive than they used to be (and I see a marked improvement there, so yay), few other things.

...there is an NPC named after me. Who is a sylvari member of the Priory.

People at ANet know me too well.
