It's more of a box office dick measuring contest. lol

Nope. It's about whether or not Marvel is making stars.

this is not true.

Unless you want to change your statement to reflect that not all their movies bombed, but that they've been in films that made less money?

Everything but Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man, Downey isn't a box office draw. The Judge and Soloist are good examples of this. Soloist with Jamie Fox only did 38 M on a 60 plus production budget.

"Big Stars". We were talking about how big of a blockbuster Jurassic World was and big stars is box office related.

And yet The Judge made a profit? Budget$50 million Box office $83.7 million?

Is your line of thinking just, a box office star can't have a movie that doesn't make a profit?

Because that's not a thing that exists in hollywood

Nope. It’s another thread getting derailed about comic books films. I mean what does Downey have to do with JP? Every ****ing movie thread always gets turned to this DC vs Marvel bullshit. And it’s hilarious that you pretend that’s not what is going on here.

Barely a profit. You still have to consider the marketing.

Anyway, finally saw this last night. It was good, but not great. I'd rank it second best in the series, though.

Saying something made close to doesn't matter. It's final number is 276 M dollars. That's lower than ALL the previous movies even WITH an A lister like you say. Matt Damon was never in a big budget movie like Avengers and Renner was. And STILL managed to make less than all the others.

Renner isn't a draw. I already provided a good article on why they are BRINGING BACK Matt Damon. It's the very reason why Renner isn't the lead guy in most of his movies.

Right.... So it was a flop because it didn't make as much as the previous films in the franchise? It more than doubled the budget. That's not even close to a flop. He's also in Mission Impossible, helping that franchise be bigger than it's ever been.

And Renner's not even a lead in any Marvel movie! Still though no one knew his name Pre-Marvel.

Chris Pratt though... He's made it. I told you just last week Marvel makes stars out of Unknowns. And now look Chris Pratt (a guy who hardly anyone knew of before GOTG) is now the star of a film with the biggest OW of all time.

Hey, go to the BVS thread. I want your opinion on what I just posted.

Also, good movie as I stated before. Not as good as the first. Do you agree?

I loved it. I think it will have legs at the box office.

I did have some issues with the cheesy dialogue, and daft things like outrunning a T-Rex in heels.

But ignoring those things, Loved it. Loved the end Dino fight.

It's the kind of thing I was expecting from Godzilla last year. What a disappointment that film was.

It's not as good as JP1, due to the faults I pointed out. Plus JP1 was one of those cinema changing movies, like Terminator 2.

But still JW was a damn entertaining sequel.

JP1 had its faults, too. It definitely was a game-changing film and that makes it stand out in cinema history, but it had some goofy things that are hard to ignore with repeat viewings, like the T-Rex appearing behind the fence, and then suddenly there was a huge cliff on that side of the fence to accommodate the silly car in the tree gimmick. Also: Let's not go to the other side of the tree to avoid it falling on us.

I think we tend to look back a little too starry-eyed at the older classic, but this movie might hold up better with repeat viewings... who knows. I've only seen it once so far, but will definitely want to see it again.

Yeah, I did too. The awkward scene where the guy thought she didn't have a boyfriend was stupid and should have been left on the cutting room floor. But other than that, I don't remember much else that was truly awful.

Admittedly that does seem really stupid, but I doubt the Rex was about to get up to full speed in there considering it was hard, slippery indoor surface (right?) and that would actually probably be helpful with running in heels (having a level surface). And shit, I am surprised women can even walk in those things, lol, so I guess they get used to it and running isn't too difficult either. Fuck if I know.. do we have any ladies who wear heels in here?

The way I see it is that these type of movies always have their faults, plot holes, dumb character decisions, etc.
To me its an enjoyable summer flick. Granted there are terrible summer popcorn flicks.
I was entertained and enjoyed this movie for what it was and it wasnt terrible. It was also the better of all the JP sequels.

If i start thinking about stuff in the movie too much, then i start to come up with these types of complaints:

- How does releasing "semi" trained killer Raptors to track down and hunt an escaped lab monster T-rex make any sense?
That is like a rampaging elephant escaping its enclosure at the zoo and the best idea to contain this mess is to release some lions so they can hunt & kill the pachyderm.
Even using trained dogs in this scenario is beyond stupid.

Even if its a better than the usual "turn off your brain & enjoy" summer flick, its best not to think too deeply on how much stupid stuff goes on.

That was the whole point. Chris Pratt's character knew it would be extremely ill-advised and was completely against the whole idea.

Spoiler:
But the hard-on Military guy (Vincent D'Onofrio) couldn't wait to experiment with some field tests hoping for military applications for the raptors. I guess he was hoping they would behave like highly trained attack dogs, perfect killing machines. And sure enough, Pratt was right, it was an extremely bad idea that completely backfired on them considering they didn't have all the information they should have had on the I-Rex and it's genetic make-up.
But that's not to say that Vincent D'Onofrio's character was completely wrong, because they raptors very well could be effective attack dogs
Spoiler:
if the prey wasn't part raptor.
And it's actually kind of cool that they built off some information that was discussed in JP3 about the velociraptors being able to communicate with each other.

I know.
My point was that is silly to try to nitpick on these type of movies.
In a real world scenario , were an animal has attacked and killed humans, it would be put down immediately. Even more quickly if the animal was in the vicinity of more potential victims.
With lethal means. Heavy ammunition, etc. Not chase it around with tazers , tranquilizer dart guns, and nets.
And this would be for a bear, elephant, lion, even a pit bull let alone a giant homicidal science experiment.

Again, I did enjoy the film 👆
