Why's that?

To me, it'd be too convenient. I was hoping they'd finally go in a different direction with the character.

This is a response I made to a similar discussion:

Bendis is not good at doing the last minute "gasp", revelation like Geoff Johns or even Mark Miller. His specialty lies in character development.
If he tries to over complicate things with a Usual suspect esq revelation, the story is going to sink like the Titanic.

For example, look at what happened in Final Crisis ? Very few accepted Morison introducing the "big bad" of the story in issue 7, with no justification (especially if you hadn't read Superman beyond).

IMO Morison should have spent more time fleshing out the New , New Gods and maybe had some kind of physical conflict, rather than bring Mandrakk into the equation.

IMO Siege is a parallel example.
We have a perfectly suitable "secret Weapon" who has justifiable motives for working with Osborne and still requires a lot of fleshing out as a character. If Bendis is finally going to provide the goods, he's not going to have time to do the previous, successfully resolve this plot development .... and then carry out a 180 degree SURPRISE !!!!!! tactic, similar to Final Crisis ....He's only got 4 issues !

Spoiler:
Most importantly of all; the fight we have wanted to see happen since 05, is inevitable. Sentry/Void vs Thor fight is almost certainly going to happen .... Also the first few pages of the most recent Dark Avengers, means this fight could have a divine consequence more profound than anything that happned in Marvel before ... Very Interesting, although highly unlikely

I think its Void Sentry ... Im pretty sure he's going to play the "Unstoppable Superboy Prime" role, therefore providing justification for his seven year anti-climatic existence, and a reason to finally kill him off.
Its pretty clear the Trinity are going to re unite after the Siege - whatever some other posters may think - and there's no character room for two Thor level characters, especially when one who has a personality as ambiguous as the Sentry. e'll be too much of a loose end to let live.

Plus the Dark Avengers preview pretty much confirms this ...

just why??? thor is gonna massacre him

The solicitations that came out for the month just after Civil War ended were full of CLASSIFIED notations and so to throw fans off the scent regarding Cap's death, Marvel solicited a fake comic called Steve Rogers: Agent of SHIELD. The image featured an Iron-man type character sporting a flag look.....I always thought it strange that Marvel put so much effort into soliciting a fake issue to throw fans off, rather than only just omitting info.

It's just clicked for me that this is the Iron Patriot armor. Perhaps, post Siege, Steve Rogers will become Iron Patriot!

I personally want Thor to smash Sentry.

Such a waste of space character. He's not bad, he's just...not good. It's so dry.

very true i feel the same way. the avengers are not jla its not about the powerhouse politics, its trust, and almost family like respect. and i mean the true core avengers not all the extending teams and such. JLA let the Titans and younger heros do their thing. When the avengers learned of Young avengers they pretty much laid the law down and rather took them under their wing, trained them etc. the trinity is the trinity and it doesnt feel right having sentry and any kind of setup possible. You can retcon him into history all you want hes never gona have anywhere the respect and honor of Cap, the bravery or fighting spirit of Thor or even enough personality to be interested in by like king dick Tony himself. he is marvel superman but with autism and if marvel isnt gona make him interesting and actually do something worth reading kill him AND LET THOR DO IT.

THOR #609
Written by KIERON GILLEN

SIEGE BLOCKBUSTER TIE-IN!!
The Siege brings Ragnarok to Asgard!
The Shining City of Thor and his brothers in arms faces destruction on the greatest scale it’s ever suffered, at the hands of Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers. But the Norse heroes have bigger problems, when THOR fights THOR! The evil Thor clone has come to kill the God of Thunder and take his place. Even if Asgard survives the Siege…will Thor survive Ragnarok?!

So basically, I was right.

fixing

Well with all this talk about a secret weapon i think it would a nice time too

Spoiler:
Bring Odin back to pimpslap the Dark avengers and get asgard in order. Bor said he would be at Odin's side again so Bor could take over the fight with Surtar and Odin can get back into the mix of things. After all the way they brought Asgard into is still not clear why.

That would be awful man.

I think that maybe Odin will come back and Thor gets his Odin Force again to deal with the big threats.

I don't know if Sentry needs to be killed off, or just go away somewhere else. He's too sanity challenged to be the lead hero. If Superman & Captain Marvel can co-exist on the same Earth, with different teams...
Is there a different team Sentry could join?

Well then why would Loki and Doom plus Osborn bring Asgaurdains into this they clearly made it harder for themselves by geting them and Thor pissed off so there has to be a bigger tie in other then Doom was to play doctor??

The fug are you talking about? This post makes no sense and does not address the thing I obviously have qualms about.

Bringing back Odin would be a ****ing awful mistake.

I disagree ... I just don' think the co-existence would work as well as it does in D.C.
