I've seen Luke pin himself in place against ridiculous forces twice, and manipulate dovin basils another time, I'm good.

He was exhausted manipulating a dovin basal in a feat that has yet to be examined with any sort of consensus; he used the Force to resist a "hurricane" (can you get the exact exerpt?); and he used the Force to apparently make himself immovable even to the force of the galaxy's black hole.

...Yet he can't use that same power against Lumiya? Caedus? The Hidden One? The Sith strike team? Galaan?

What does the feat being ridiculous have to do with this argument? It's not that the feat was awesome or powerful that I take issue with. It's the fact that it is inconsistent with Luke's other showings.

Since TJ quoted you, I'll take the time to comment.

Nai's post analyzes the science behind the feat. As I am not a scientist, a science major, someone well informed of physics, someone who hasn't even had the [dis]pleasure of taking a physics class, I was asking him to dumb it down and translate the science behind Luke's feat into more simpler terms; specifically, was it as uber as some have tried to suggest?

The fact that there is not a consensus between Nemesis, Eminence, and Nai (who all seem pretty well educated in physics) strongly suggests that this is not as simple or as easy as you'd have anyone believe. The fact that neither you or TJ have, conveniently, offered your own commentary suggests the exact same thing.

Now, as far as kicking my ass is concerned, if you feel the need to thump your chest, you can do that over MSN, where I'll be kind enough to humble you in private.

He couldn't advance against it, so he rooted himself in place. The wind tore at his clothes and his hair, caused himto squint and hield his face with his free hand. BUt he could not be put down, could not be pushed back.

He saw winds hammer at the two downed Witches. In a moment, the currents caught them up. They rose to an altitiude of a couple of meters, the skins they wore rippling and tattering in the wind, and then they hurtled toward the forest. The two witches pouring Force lightning against him and Vestera also retreated, but they kept their feet and backed away until they reached the tree line and disappeared within it.

Still the wind kept up. Luke saw Vestera pressed up against a sheer rock face at the bottom of the slope...

Everyone takes it seriously to some extent, TJ. We've all invested time, passion, and energy into it.
