I also think I remember an episode where Vegeta & Nappa destroyed an alien planet en route to Earth and Vegeta opened his ship in space to destroy it with a blast. Some planet full of bug looking aliens IIRC.

ie they look similar and have similar organs and thats about it. everything else works differently.
saiyan bodies are about thousands of times more durable if not more. a human body would be reduced to dust under even the weakest assaults that saiyans are exposed to regularly.
meh, we really have nothing but pure specullations. tbh, i dont see the planet getting destroyed by any dbz character while fighting thor as thor would just cassually vortex the energy bomb away. and thor wont go planet smashing as that would kill all life on the planet.
so the question if saiyans can breath in space or not doesn't really matter.

No one's denying that Saiyans are more durable, but durability doesn't equal being an anaerobic organism.
