STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Respite

Started by REXXXX69 pages

These soldiers are two turns distant in all directions, Vera. They are closing in from all sides, with the exception of the pillbox behind you. The patrols are trickling in now and your opposition is not great, but that will not last long.

Xeth- sure enough, a cluster of those damnable vulture droids starts racing into view and closing in on your ship. While the Nexu's Grin has some powerful engines, the vulture droids are just incredibly streamlined and fast. They are going to catch you.

Vera-Kin waves her lightsaber southward.

"Stay close to me," Vera-Kin urges Barker. "We'll tear through them together, old friend."

She will start closing the distance, using Coordination and swapping Balanced and Orthodox for higher Defense. Use Block for Armor.

Are they coming from behind or head on?

Either way, Xeth is going to bank hard in order to give Ti the opportunity to blast a vulture down, hopefully bringing the ship around quickly enough to get a shot in himself.

"Navir didn't tell us they had these," Xeth curses.

Barker's damage has been adjusted- he took 20 damage when the leader came down with more troopers. And you took 1 damage from the turrets, and 4 damage from the leader.

Coming out of the doorway, the troops gain initiative and open fire. This works in your favor- you gain slight cover from the doorway to the pillbox.

Fire is split three ways between you- two droids, three men each. Coordination keeps you totally clear, Vera. Barker takes 8 damage from some good rolls. Navir is relatively untouched with 2 damage.

Navir then rattles off shots at the battle droids firing his way. With the punch his rifle packs, he brings them down immediately.

You move into the center of the yard.

You bank hard to get what you want, Xeth. You bring the fighters into your line of fire just as they get into firing range themselves. A short burst from your cannons catches a vulture head on, shattering its droid brain with the impact of your lasers. It spins down into the ground and explodes.

The vultures are then upon you, flurrying lasers into your shields as they zip past. You take 16 damage, minimized slightly by your jinking and strong shields.

With her mercenary cohort firing to the North, Vera-Kin decides to plunge south with Barker and make short work of the troopers there. She assails the droids first, chopping them up quickly before they can cause further harm.

Xeth grumbles as his shields start to drain after taking some direct hits. He brings the Nexu around again, trying to put a vulture in his sight. Once he gets a firm lock, he lets his cannons do the rest.

Initiative goes against you. Fortunately, instead of gunning down more droids, Navir opts to unnerve those firing at you by spraying bursts in all directions with covering fire. The soldiers cower when threatened.

It is all misses on the Jedi and her allies! Navir's Covering Fire saved you much hassle and then everyone rolled like crap against him. Handy.

Eight successes is enough to make short work of the battle droids in your area. Another droid marches in to take their place, a spindly standard battle droid with a large glowing pack strapped to its back...

Barker clobbers a soldier with a wild hairy swing.

Pew pew! These things might as well be made of glass. Four successes completely vaporizes your target, once you get the lock. The other four fighters are nearly toying with you as they zip circles and spirals around your sluggish ship. You take 13 damage as one scores a very solid hit across the starboard side and the rest nip at your shields.

Am I doing anything? (sorry for the absence btw). I add to the gunfire, trying to pick off those that aren't near Xeth's sights with the main guns.

You're on the guns, so firing is good.

"Hold on to something," Xeth says to Ti via comm. "Preferably the trigger."

Xeth tries a dangerous maneuver, racing out ahead of the fighters to get some distance between himself and them. He then slams on the air brakes on the right side, causing the ship to swing around to the right. He unleashes a volley of lasers from his cannons as Ti fires hers, hoping to take out a few of the fighters with his stunt.

He then lets the ship swing back around to the right and slams on the left air brakes to balance things out.

If Vera-Kin brings in Charge, is there any cover to jump into after an attack?

Yes; tons of scrap metal around.

Vera-Kin will cut the guns out of the hands of two soldiers before twirling behind some jagged outcropping of metal.

Xeth's stunt seems to get the desired result. A short burst from his cannons and then a spray from Ti's turret sees to it that two of the vultures are picked out of the air.

The remaining two only make cursory attempts at hitting you after that display.

The timing is in your favor as you take initiative and lay into the soldiers. Your swift and precise chops see them disarmed (literally... you have a hard time rolling low against mooks, Vera) and you spring back behind some rusted piece of metal before anything comes your way.

Barker decides to try grappling with the flamer droid. He comes at it swinging, putting a heavy dent in its front for 5 damage (on a poor roll).

Navir decides to thin the ranks again this turn. He taps Carnival of Carnage while firing east. He racks up three kills.

In retaliation, the east opens up in return, now with a newly arrived rocket droid. The missile flies wide and explodes against the pillbox; Navir has chosen his cover well. Nothing touches him.

Your metal cover starts to slag and melt under fire, and you take 6 damage.

Barker just narrowly dances around the stream of plasma coming from the flame droid, and takes a glancing hit from a soldier.

Cool. Are the fighters disengaging or still harassing? We may be able to ignore them and run into the building.

Tapping time.

Vera-Kin is going to come down on the two soldiers there while the Wookiee tangles with the fire droid. She also expertly angles her blade to reflect back north.

Tap Orthodox Guard, Reflection, AND Cleave.

I think they are staying on. Xeth won't let them, though. He is going to full-on ram one and send it out of control.

"Handle the last one," Xeth says to Ti. "Then we're out of here."
