Both the italian policies and the bannishment of non-muslims from Meca are religiously based discrimination. However, the fact remains that unlike Saudi Arabia, secular states are by definition obliged to secure separation of religion and state. Ultimatelly, the conclusion of his rant, "I'll not be lectured on tolerance by bigots", is meaningless because people defending the mosque being built anywhere the worshippers want it are not supporting islamic discrimination of non-muslims.

Yes. According to Muhammad in the Hadiths majority of hell dwellers are women. See Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301: Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudr -

It is, and it isn't. We don't have an official language, but everyone still knows its an English-speaking country. Same thing with Christianity (America is a de facto Christian Nation). It's officially secular...but everyone knows better.

Disagree with the Language and Religion connection. A common language is needed for commerce to function efficiently.
A common religion isn't and I've yet to see facts that America = Christian Nation. I've heard many a time the line: "this country was founded on Christian principles", yet to see clear evidence though.

That's right. The majority religion practiced in any a country is gonna have a big impact on the society, even if its "officially" secular. Just look at Turkey and India. America's no exception.
