Well, couldnt this also be plot induced stupidity? Palpatine was clearly alive in the original trilogy and therefore Yoda could't have won in ROTS.
True. But he could have ended the saber portion in a way that would leave little doubt as to what happened. Preferably something iconic, meaningful, and cool instead of "Oh hey look what happened."

Oh. Darn!

OMG this is almost exactly what dadudemon, who thinks that Twilight vampires could solo the Jedi Order, says to all of my arguments.

Oh, and you didn't counter the Stealth X argument; by that time you already had me on ignore.

Hewhoknows, thats rather annoying and most likely pointless. Would you please stop?

Is he doing that thing again, where he posts and reminds the forum of his retar--I mean delightfully quaint presence?

Did you actually read my post? For all you know it could have been an amazing post.

I'm referring to Gideon. He claimed that he countered all of my points, but the Stealth X argument was after he already had me on ignore.

Yes, i'm sure everyone who can read understands that. Youve posted the same exact thing several times, and he isn't responding so just quit. Take it to PM or drop it would be my best advice.

HWKA, I told you to STOP IT!!! Let it go young one.

Did he just act if I read his post? I can't see them.

Who, Hewho? Kinda.

"YODA unleashes a ferocious assault on PALPATINE, causing him to almost go over the edge. The Dark Lord drops his lightsaber but recovers with a BLAST OF ENERGY from his hands that surrounds YODA. YODA is deflecting the Sith Lord's lightning bolts.

The energy bolts begin to arc back on the Emperor. It looks as if the Dark Lord is doomed.

YODA: Destroy you I will, just as Master Kenobi, your apprentice will destroy.

YODA jumps to a lower Senate Pod[...]"

Imo, Yoda jumped to another Senate pod in an effort to get away from Palpatine's lightning (of which he was actively blocking just beforehand.) Afterall, the film makes it clear that it caused Yoda pain to stay the lightning -- so it's obviously not something he could do (or would want to do) for an extended length of time.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said earlier.

Your opinion is inadequate. We saw at the conclusion of the fight that, despite the pain and effort, Yoda can resist long enough and rally himself in order to push the lightning back. So why wouldn't he (or couldn't he) do it when he was in an even greater position of dominance?

My opinion is inadequate? You realize that all we have to go by in this particular instance is opinion, right?

Anyhow, there's no point in asking why Yoda didn't push the lightning back at Palpatine in that scene (as he did later on), because such a question can only be answered by GL himself. It is logical, however, to assume that Yoda jumped into another pod because he did not want to continue wasting his reserves of force energy merely blocking Palpatine's lightning. That would hardly be an effective means to "destroy the Sith."

you also realize that in that scene where he was pushing it back it took him damn near every ounce of strength he had to do so?

...And yet he did it. So I ask you (again) why he wouldn't do so when he was in an even better position (to get an even better result)?

Yes, it is.

Yoda resisted and repulsed the lightning during the end of the duel with Palpatine. Why would he not do so when he was in an even better position against the Emperor?
