is reading up or expanding ones spiritual knowledge of another's history or culture a sin?

by this i mean studying religion of other ppl or scriptures. wouldnt it behoove ppl to know about the ppl they are tryin to convert?

rather then just burn their books or tell them they are all goin to hell.. can some one tell me where in the bible it says ppl are to do this to convert ppl?

Of cause it is a sin to major religions. They're just football teams seeking domination of the planet.

We even have Fundamentalist Buddhists busting up churches and smashing statues of Mary now!

i am asking for a specific reference where the bible condones this action not your unsubstantiated opinion.

does god approve or disprove nudism?

is it a sin?

* in the time of Adam and Eve, being naked is okay (Genesis 2:25)… but after that, no more (Leviticus 18)…

* regarding sin... what is a sin?

"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for [b]sin is the transgression of the law."
I John 3:4

"Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."
James 4:17

* my point here was, if there is no law in the Bible that prohibits us - may it be explicit or implied - it is not a sin because the meaning of sin is the transgression of the law… and in fact, the Bible somehow encourages us to examine first:

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world."
I John 4:1

"If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him."
John 7:17-18

* sometimes, it is the user's interpretation that makes Bible verses go wrong… that's the reason why I never give my own interpretation when the verse is really that explicit and easy to understand…

"Now we know that the law is good, if any one uses it lawfully,"
I Timothy 1:8

* but if a person uses the laws in the Bible unlawfully, then those laws he corrupted would be tarnished…

woops sorry.

god actually not once said it was a sin...

again comments of ppl in a bible story does not make it god's law.

u think that is one of the major failing of religion especially catholics.

they arent enforcing god's will but an individual's opinion.

Agreed.

What ‘problem’? That it’s a conglomerate, ancient, Semitic text constructed full of fairy tales, legends, military conquest and justifications for wholesale slaughter, poems, stories filched from Sumerian and Babylonian mythology, then rounded off with stuff about a superman and a chapter that reads like a seriously nightmarish drug trip?!

Bah Humbug at my inquisitive nature! This parable does a better job of summing up the story of that video, AND it does so more concisely:

Enough Semite trashing. What about the books your people wrote? The Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita etc. What do you think about those?
