No, it is repeatedly stressed throughout the game that, conventionally, you can't beat the Reapers. Just look at their codex entry. High enough war assets could definitely deliver a major blow to the Reapers, but winning isn't an option. imo, ME3 already made the Reapers less threatening (Starchild drastically tone down their Cosmic Horror aspect), being able to defeat them without the Crucible would be straight up Villain Decay, imo.
So I'm playing ME3 right now. Will likely finish in a few weeks.
Good so far. I don't know the ending, though I know it's bad.
The sex element has suddenly become distracting. Whereas it was an end-of-game diversion in the first two, the whole "anyone can sleep with anyone else" mechanic of 3 is odd. Especially because I'm taking a mostly Paragon route, half the conversations with my crew feel like a race to Shepherd's pants. It's unsettling.
Many good elements so far, including being present for multiple invasions, not just Earth. Wonderful scope to the whole thing.
Oh, legit gripe of the series: You can import characters from previous games, but can't start a new character and dictate what decisions you made in the past.
Basically, I disliked my Shepherd in ME1, so I started from scratch in 2. And it gave me a template with some choices that I hadn't made. So all the way into ME3, I'm playing with some incorrect decisions. For example, Kaiden is alive for me (I saved Ashley). Same with the Rachni (I saved the queen - default is kill). My ME2 decisions are my own, but it still feels like I should have been able to customize it.

I did not know there were others. I've been trying to avoid info on the game until I can play it. Probably the original to start with - I want to see what all the fuss is about.

You have to pay for a DLC for ME2 in order to decide which ME1 choices you want. That really pissed me off, just because default Shepard is such an unbelievable fvck-up/unlikable character.
I don't know if you can do the same for ME3 though. I think you might be shit outta luck in being able to actually choose your choices.
