HOTU vs. The Presence.

I'm tempted to close this... I'm honestly starting to think it's spite against Thanos, going by what people have said...

I don't see how anything other than a tie makes sense.

Based on what? It says so in the comic.

😬

If thanos was totally omnipotent(which is what god would be)he wouldn't have needed to sacrifice himself to fix the flaw.

His power was taken and Cronus couldn't handle it. The writer clearly portrayed this. Thanos has handled supreme power on panel. Logically then Thanos can handle this power which was just a majority of the godwave.

👇 This is completely false and anyone who's read the story knows that is no way what the writer portrayed, Wonder Woman says the complete opposite of what your saying.. He was humbled by touching a holy God/The Presence who was never at any threat. If Lucifer couldn't think of a way no way is Cronus going to do any better..

If Presence was perfect he would have had no reason to want to merge w/ Lucifer. I think you should accept that maybe Jim Starlin is not an enlightened being who can give a 100% accurate portrayal of God (I would argue no writer could).

Wouldn't the point of god be that he is, once again, 100% omnipotent? I mean that wouldn't be hard to portray. Its been done in marvel before. So I fail to see how you fail to portray god.

When has it ever been portrayed that way?

Was there not an FF comic where Doom breaches heaven and sue asks "reed, why am I taller then the almighty?" and god is erasing the area around them and drawing a new one? I'll see if I can find scans.

Yo.

Ive never read the title (which Im assuming this is coming from), but perhaps there was a specific reason He wanted to do that?

remember: God *is* unknowable, so His motives & machinations wouldnt be obvious to us at all really.........

Post the scan then. I unlike you read and understood the story. Cronus couldn't handle it the angels themselves say he was capable of erasing the host from the book soon as he started stomping the angels.

Uhh.. Lucifer was part of him anyways. People look into it far too much.

Ah juntai now that you've shown up I can pose this question to you. Do you feel the lucy series from vertigo is canon to the dcu or is it standalone iyo ?

I have you blocked, so I suppose you're lucky in a way that I figured you'd be replying to me and checked to see what it said.

But to answer your question on my opinion of it - only the parts that coincide with the happenings in Sandman. So basically, no, the standalone title is not, though it does a well job of trying to tie points of its story into the appearances of Sandman, only the apperances in Sandman are important to Lucifer in DC comics.

Of course, it does appear that they are about to bring the Vertigo universe more in line with the DC Universe again - for example- Swamp Thing making a return coming up possibly? So who knows what the future holds for that material.

Well Cronus didn't have the power at all, it was in the sickle the whole time...

The angels in the Shining City never thought of the Greek deities as any threat at all, and it would have just taken 1 angel of the Pax Dei to send them away if Cronus didn't have the sickle that was powered by the other deities.

Here Cronus after touching The Presence, he begins to see everything and at the end he wishes to see no more and askes God to see no more. Afterwards being humbled he gave up his corporeal form and returned to his mother Gaea, reenacting what he just saw with his mother, giving her insight to the nature of God.

Either you believe Cronus and Asmodel while delusional or Zauriel, Wonder Woman and everything else in the comic's that the writers have said. I can take a guess (though it really wouldn't be a guess cause I've tried to stay out of this) on what your going to believe..

So you agree with me. You should take me off ignore since we agree on so much as of late.

Cronus in your last bit of scans takes the presence's power which is states in the comic. Cronus never took the presence's power while he wielded the sickle that contained the godwave from the pantheons he had already conquered. I figured you'd get confused again.

Yes, they didn't see them as threats until Cronus tore through one with one stab. The whole point is with the other pantheons power he was far more powerful than any pax dei. He was dominating them and they needed the greek pantheon along with WW to come to their aid.

With the godwave power through the sickle Cronus was far above all of heaven. Later on in the story did he take the presence's power but it drove him mad something Thanos has proven up to the task ala this story.
