There will be families, but Avengers attracts more of that target audience Imo. Nolan's Batman series has clearly targetted an older audience. Which is how it should be for Batman.

Oh and in the UK kids wern't allowed to watch TDK. Not sure about other parts of the world.

Anyway will have to see. I think TDKR looks awsome. Can't wait. In the mean time gonna keep watching Avengers 🙂

You're fooling yourself if you think kids didn't watch TDK in UK.....srsly.

Anyway, I don't know which film will come out on top, but at the very least The Avengers is setting the bar amazingly high.

seeing as avengers has 3-d tickets on their side, i dont think tdkr will do as much.

And you're fooling yourself if you think that Nolan's final chapter won't make BANK. Also, 3-d doesn't mean success. Look at Green Lantern. In fact, many of my friends (myself also), don't like 3-d as much as regular. Captain America for instance, had HORRIBLE 3-d...it really wasn't 3-d at all, except for a few parts.

lol, i never said it wouldnt make money. just not on the level of the avengers. tdkr doesnt have 3-d on its side (price is also what counts).

They're not allowed in the cinema here. It was a 15 I think. Meaning only people 15 years of age or older are allowed in the movie.

Anyway I just see Avengers as more of a family movie.

Yep. And deservedly so.

Honestly, I am not sure if TDKR will be able to beat the Avengers in terms of record breaking.

Same here. I just saw the movie a few hours ago and I can tell from the Batman trailer it showed before the Avengers, it has no way in hell to top it...

Even the Spiderman movie trailer had more appeal.

I was undecided beforehand. Now I'm thinking this is a record that won't be broken by TDKR this year.

That's what they said about Indy the same year TDK came out. That it was too dark, dispite Heath's death. It broke records then. The last of the trilogy and Christopher Nolan's stamp is what will get people in the seats. Plus the most popular hero out there.

I prefer Avengers vs. all of the batman trilogy.

I won't deny, that I enjoy the first movie (has Heath).

Avengers was good, but not the best super hero movie, IMO. I prefer X-Men 1st Class and BB.

Uh what??

Avengers has made the highest opening weekend of all time. TDKR's not going beat that. Though it still may have a chance at total gross but I'm even doubting that now.

My guess is it will make more than any other solo superhero act though.

Agreed. X-Men First Class, BB, TDK and IM are still my favorites. But I think Avengers still probably makes my number 5.

First Class really lacked hype, otherwise that should have made a heck of a lot more than it did (based on the quality of the movie).

I wouldn't be that surprised if TDKR beats Avengers or doesn't. Come July, TDKR will have major hype. Avengers is in the spotlight now, which is why TDKR isn't in the hot seat now. That will change come July.

Originally I thought that TDKR would beat Avengers... but now... I don't think there is a chance in hell. The biggest all time opening weekend box office isn't being broken twice in one summer. It could take the highest midnight showing though, since school will be out by July 20th.

Avengers is too big for Batman alone, the movie has even increased the sale of Shawarma by 80%.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the less plausible and likely it would be for TDKR to beat Avengers. I have no doubt it will do well, but that is a huge obstacle to climb.

I haven't tried shawarma either. Now I'm curious... 😄

It's hard to believe TDKR will gross more than what the Avengers is curerntly doing. These #'s are ridiculous;700+ Million in a little over a week...lol.

The thing about Avengers is it has great re watch value due to it's lighter tone and great action. TDKR will probably be a better movie, but due to it's darker story, and probable longer running time, people won't go to see it 3,4, or 5 times as they are with Avengers.

On another note, the 3rd trailer for TDKR looked amazing. They seemed to have cleared up Bane's voice and he sounds and looks brutal....can't wait.

I've already seen Avengers four times. 😎

Honestly, I thought the TDKR trailer they played in front of Avengers was pretty mediocre. The should have cut the background music off to build tension when Batman says "I haven't given them everything... not yet." Then had it come booming back in. They must be saving the good stuff until the movie is closer to release, because you just know there is a scene of Bane breaking Batman that would blow the lid off everyone's measured expectations.
