The Box office has been huge this year. Nobody thought THG would do so well, but it did. There wasn't as much hype for Avengers until the few weeks before it came out.

I wonder how much Spidey will do.

I hate to say it but I think Spidy might under perform to be honest. I don't know what the studio is expecting for the Box Office but it's coming off the critically reviled Spider-man 3, so if First Class is any indication it's box office will be down even if it happens to be the best of all the Spider-man movies (like First Class was).

But maybe everyone is so high on Avengers that they are in a mood for a Spider-man movie? Sony should push the humor in the next trailer.

i wouldnt be surprised if both spidey hand tdkr under performs.

I dunno, I think Spider-Man could underperform but not due to Spider-Man 3. Sure, that was critically reviled, and sure, X-Men: First Class didn't hit the high numbers it hoped to for similar reasons, but First Class didn't have a Wolverine or Spider-Man leading the performance. General public didn't really have anything to associate the X-Men with besides the last, shitty movie- and the trailers for First Class strongly referenced the previous movies, drawing that connection in peoples minds.

Spider-Man is marketed more as a reboot/alternate Spider-Man, and it has Spider-Man. People love him for reasons external of the movies, and they loved him in the movies- at least, Spider-Man 1 and 2.

If First Class had Wolverine, it might have made those numbers.

That is Phucking INSANE!

I mean this could be on it's way to beating Titanic or Avatar!

I unfortunately feel your right. Add this to the fact that most people don't like the fact that it's being rebooted so soon.

I dunno. It's not like the Wolverine movie performed much better. (Before you quote figures, I know it did better, just not miles better).

But I do agree First Class wasn't marketed very well.

Annoying because it was such an Awsome movie!

ugh, that Wolverine movie was horrible. I was looking forward to Aronofsky directing, but that fell through.

It can still turn out good the sequel with the director that's attached, I'm hoping the scriptwriters create a decent story for his adventure in Japan .

I think the Wolverine movie did surprisingly well considering it was terrible and a dvd quality rough print was leaked online weeks before the movie came out.

^ It was definitely marketed better than First Class and had more star power selling it.

Of course it didn't help first class that it couldn't include more well known and popular X-Men like Cyclops, Ice-Man, Storm, Jean Grey.

Whilst even the Wolverine solo movie had a cameo of a young Cyclops.(And actually got more action and screen time than the adult one did in X3).

Felt like they tried to cram too much into one movie imo, First movie should've been using the 'Wolverine: Origin story'

and then have the sequel to do with Weapon X.

Bwah ha ha, the butthurt here is pretty hilarious. Can't tell if Modine is serious here with his tweets or just trolling.

I don't know if he's being serious or not; likely not. It's probably just payback because four years ago after The Dark Knight opened, Robert Downey Jr. - fresh off the first Iron Man two months earlier - mocked the film's ultra seriousness and said he didn't get it. He was likely having fun with it, and that he felt more in tune with Marvel's vibe anyway.

Matthew Modine is latest veteran actor to get his career kick-started thanks to Christopher Nolan. He should just shut up.

I feel after the avengers hit 1 bil they just thought they should do something to try and get some more steam behind TDKR. What causes more steam then getting the fans into a heated debate? I mean you get all the fans that plan to go see it already plus anyone who wants to compare the movies.

Not unlike an actor supporting his movie. I don't think he's butthurt.

There's supporting your movie and then there's being an ass.

lol! You're right. I thought the link was to the mini video interview where he said TDKR will kick it's butt. Reading his twitter stuff, makes him sound like a troll.

Whether it's to draw attention to the movie or not, Modine still just comes off like a prick. The comments on the article pretty much support that.

Hopefully one day WB makes their own studio like Disney/Marvel. But seeing as WB is making a bucket load of cash overseas, I doubt they need to. They are the king in international box office.

Yeah well, Harry Potter is over and The Hobbit will be a two film series. While Disney can keep going with Marvel for the next few decades. Warners better follow through on their promise for more DC superheroes if they don't want to be left behind.

They have other movies lined up that are not super heroes that are potential money makers. Whether or not those will make money is anyones guess.
