Not a Terminator I am afraid! You may have to take a more Dark-Side style solution to this one- you often don't think your way through problems...

Is that the "blow it all up" solution? Or the "let it kill Rand" solution?

I was inclining towards the first.

Does it have any sort of power supply that Relle could blast apart and detonate? Or just perforate the damn thing with lasers until it falls apart.

Either way, I don't like the "squished Rand" option.

To do it in some clever, targeted way would be Sabotage.

Why doesn't she just hack it apart with her saber? Cause it to fall in pieces instead of one big heavy thing.

Certainly better than nothing!

Then Relle will try to hack the elevator apart! She smoothly transitions from pistols to saber in an instant and takes several swings at the lift car itself, trying to dismantle it.

How shall we fair against the... defenceless inanimate object...

Well the main issue is time. Sabres aren't explosive and making holes in something is not quite the same thing as taking it apart. So, in the limited time you have, how exactly do you envisage destroying the lift? For example, you could cut it in half horizontally so only the bottom half falls on Rand. And then the top half soon after.

(This does not help much)

Incidentally, Gallador is likely going to hav to reac tto this as well, depending on what Relle does.

I could try cutting it apart vertically, perhaps? And then Gallador and Rand can cut up the sections that come their way (or in Rand's case he can deflect it with the Force or something).

Maybe make one section fall off before Katai finishes shooting the cable and Rand and Gallador can position into the spot where the car is missing a section.

It's a heck of a lot more awkward to cut vertically, because you have to reach the top.

In fact that would probably only be possible actually inside the lift itself.

Hmm, shoot. Well if I cut it in half horizontally, could Rand then spin it with Lifting so it doesn't just hit everyone?

He couldn't do both halves at once.

You could try and cut out the bottom maybe. Then some sections from the top. Give them them a place to pass through the elevator.

Cut the bottom out before it falls, cut the top off as it falls, Gallador and Rand jump and pass through the open car?

Well you'll need to be in the lift to cut out the top, so I'll need to know how you get it all done.

Honestly I guess I could clamber inside after cutting the bottom out?

Well you can see the logical issue I have there- how are you staying inside without falling onto Rand and saying 'oops!'

Relle could make sure to leave a small ledge on the bottom for her to stand on.

Alternatively could Rand cut open a hole in the wall and jump out of the shaft?

No, it's solid all around except top and bottom.

Relle could try that but it's very difficult to be precise under time pressure.
