I was more hinting on that if we get to see Odin battle the Phoenix in the near future then it's more than likely going to be a close battle.

After all, the battle between Jean and Galactus took place in the early 80's and that was in a "What if..."

How powerful is odin and galactus?

It depends on the story and the author.

In the early days of Marvel Odin's battles shook the entire multiverse to some degree and he fought enemies one of which whom forged his sword in the flames of an exploding galaxy. But he's really fallen since then, and currently I'd put the power of his magic at a planetary scale.

Galactus is even more difficult to gauge, but at the height of his power he was able to wipe out multiple galaxies as a side-effect of his battle against Tyrant, and in Annihilation he destroyed three star systems.

If you want a more detailed and reliable answer ask Mr Master. Marvel cosmology is kind of his forte.

Galactus, Odin, Phoenix and Celestials are all peers. It hardly matters who can beat who among all of them.

Galactus has fought the Phoenix in canon and lost. Although that was an unfed Galactus.

I'd tend to agree... Specifically where Odin and Galactus are concerned. If you look at some of the feats 'classic' Odin has under his belt, it's pretty obvious that back in the day he would have been nearly on par with Galactus, but still slightly weaker. Same coin, if you look at their most recent battle, Galactus did come off as more powerful than Odin, but the difference seemed marginal at best.

So like you mentioned, they are typically portrayed in the same ballpark, with only slight power-differences(relative) existing between them. Same thing with the Celestials and Phoenix, on average.

That's a lot of words just to tell me I'm right.

The only thing that's important to know is that each of the three could defeat Goku on their own. And that's all you need to know to win 90% of the versus forum debates featuring either of them.

^Meh, who apart from gay anime fans cares about Goku?

gk is right. 🙂

^That's my shtick.

what is, being right or stealing mindset's lines? 😖hifty:

The gay anime fans make up 95% of the versus community.

Your point being?

GK is acting like he's the first guy to say they're all in the same league. I remember arguing the same thing YEARS ago(leo was there, I think.)

...And I'm sure we weren't the first to come up with that.

I really don't believe Odin and Galactus are peers though. I think the supporting evidence is actually to the contrary. Sure, back in the day Odin had high end feats that put him in Galactus league, but still slightly below. Shit, there was even narration talking about them as peer. However, those old time odin feats are non existent in that vein for the last 15 years or so. While Galactus feats have gone up in stock in the last 15 years. So I believe the gap has grown even larger. Which again, was reinforced by their last fight.. it really wasn't close... For God's sake Odin headbutted galactus and KO'd himself in the process. That doesn't come across as peers.. but an all out attack from Odin.. so a galactus not really well nourished.. who stands right there and lets Odin do it.. yet still isn't put down in the same way Odin put himself down.. yeah Galactus came across as more superior than he used to.. which coincides with the theme of late between the two.

lol

oh yeah, i recall some bloody battles being waged in an old galactus vs odin thread where i said that odin would def stand a chance against galactus and sooooo many cried BS, that g would absorb odin or just crush him like a flea.

i've long thought g/odin/pf were relatively close power-wise. i used to think the celestials were more powerful than g, but lately that seems to have changed considerably. now i would agree completely that (in general, not the uber celestials) they are all in roughly the same class and really wouldn't be shocked to see any of them beat or have a close fight with any of the others.

i wonder how that famous, humiliating scene scene in thor 300 would play out nowadays....?
