Just thought about it but couldn't this movie still break even when it opens in China? Not that it would make much of a difference in Fox's future plans.
Just remembered. This isn't even being released in China Lol.
No China. No 3d. Studio pulled back all the big action sets to save on the budget. This movie never even had a chance.

Edit: Speaking of future plans, Fox still wants to do a sequel despite all the money they've lost on this film.

They've not said sequel, they've said they have plans for the characters (possibly in an X-Men crossover). But it could just be to keep people going to watch it in the meantime. It would be stupid for them to say right now "we're cancelling any future FF plans" because then they would lose even more tickets, not to mention blu-ray sales:

But that’s exactly what someone in Aronson’s shoes has to say, just to make sure he doesn’t hurt the box office return even more by denouncing the movie. After all, they still have Blu-Ray and DVD product to sell later.

But doesn't that article still say that Fox might be pursuing that originally penciled in 2017 date for a possible Fantastic Four sequel. That's what I was initially going off of anyway.
Yeah but they were speculating. All the Fox guy said was this:
“While we’re disappointed, we remain committed to these characters and we have a lot to look forward to in our Marvel universe.”
No mention or confirmation of the FF sequel itself. An FF sequel would be stupid at this point anyway, as it would be a guaranteed flop. If anything they would try and increase the FF goodwill first through an X-Men crossover before attempting a sequel.
But I personally think (and hope) they will just give it up.
Okay I see, so it was just speculation after-all.
But doesn't Fox want an Xmen tv show or something like that? If they have to go through Marvel to get the green light for it, this route may be the key to talks with Disney/Marvel and Fox. They were willing to give Daredevil up so maybe talks of a tv show could finally lead to Fox making a deal to let the FF somewhere in the MCU: long shot I know but its not like Fox cares about the FF.

I think Fox mainly cares about Silver Surfer/Galactus.Marvel was willing to let Fox keep Daredevil in exchange for those two. Fox presumably assumed "Oh this is a hot property let's keep it."
Yeah basically this. Both studios want Silver Surfer/Galactus.
Fox probably figures they can use them in an X-Men movie. That movie could potentially be Huge, and worth more than the few million viewers they would get off a Tv Show.
Whatever Fox is going to do, I wish they would just do it. Either give up the rights or get on with whatever Silver Surfer/Galactus plot they have planned. But don't screw around. They've already sat on Silver Surfer/Galactus for the last 15 years doing absolutely nothing with them, apart from 1 decent portrayal of Surfer in an unfortunately bad movie. But even that was 8 years ago and we never saw him again. And Galactus in that movie really doesn't count! You can't just make a Big Cloud and call it Galactus!
12 scenes that weren't in the film

ha, would be creative. But i predict a fanboy shitstorm were that to happen lol

"same thing we do every night, Silvy, try to devour the world"
...they're Silvy and Big-G, they're Silvy and Big-G, one is a surfer, the other is in Pang.
BOTH FOX and Trank are too blame..

exactly. i think its pretty corny that Trank actually went on social media and point finger...especially if rumor of his behind the scene nonsense is true. If his vision was not projected onscreen due to his not being involved due to his dispruptive behavior, how is it logical to blame fox only?

Its both their faults but it all started with Fox.
FOX made this movie for the wrong reasons. Not cause they had a vision they wanted to translate to film, or an idea on what direction they wanted to take the FF, or to be true to the source material, or any type of drive to put out a quality film.
They basically just rushed out a movie as fast as possible just to keep the rights.
Trank wasn't even heavily invested because he wanted to make Chronicle 2 not FF.
