There have been color variants in Force lightning across the mythos. Blue, purple, green, and red. It's still the same animal.
I'd agree. Bring up the color of the lightning is irrelevant.
But if Battlemaster wishes to use that as an argument I'm absolutely fine with it.

Sidious Force lightning is purple, but is clearly Force lightning. Your point?
I wasn't the one who initially brought up the point.
If "emerald lightning" (another stupid, stupid name) is the designation given to the power wielded by Luke at the end of The Unifying Force, it was said to generate "green sparks" that made a Yuuzhan Vong Slayer convulse and topple like a tree. The text neglects to mention anything being cast from Luke's fingertips like traditional lightning, leaving room open for the idea that they are separate techniques.

Duh, and guess what? The guy lives - except he's incapacitated. Just like what Jacen did later on.
Yeah. Ok? Then the Dark Reaper uses the same power as Nihilus then as it drains its victims of their force energy.

Okay, and sometimes Sith Lightning is blue. And sometimes it's white.
What's your point?
You were the one who initially brought up colors to differentiate between lightning. I was just following your lead.
In any case, Electric Judgement/Emerald Lightning both incapacitate their enemies - not kill them.
Sith/Force Lightning on the other hand that can be blue/white/purple, etc - kills it's enemies, siphoning off lifeforce.
So, we have the Lightside variation - One ability with the same effect and a couple colors
And we have the Dark side ability - One ability with the same effect and a couple different colors.
Established Star Wars Canon thus far sees it that way.
So stop huffing paint. 😛

Read my message to you above - and throw away your paint-flakes. 😛

It does in gameplay (Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy). Otherwise, I've only ever seen it wielded by the Son from the Mortis Trilogy. It should be noted, though, that Sith lightning is said to drain the life from its opponents.
It siphons it off - but it doesn't absorb it.

I agree, it is like the Mind trick, you can use it like the Jedi to influence minds or like the Sith to control minds. At the end of the day the ability is still Mind trick.

It is really an Imperial logo.

Right - Lightside variation is One ability with a few visual colors
And the Darkside variation is One ability with a few visual colors
Established common knowledge understands these facts

Dear God, it's patently obvious from the text that "electric judgment" (stupid, stupid name) is Force lightning as wielded by Jedi and permissible for light side use. It stems from a sense of justice rather than a desire to inflict harm. Are they exactly the same? Perhaps not. Are they completely separate? No. It's the difference between a katana and a cutlass. At the end of the day, they're both swords. The fact that Plo Koon calls it Force lightning should end the argument.
