Weird. Mine might be almost the complete opposite. 300 would probably be top. I liked Dawn of the Dead but it's casting was terrible and would be last cos of it. Watchmen and Suckerpunch would probably be even and MoS would probably be along side them. I hoped it would be top. Oddly enough I thought it could've benefited from Snyder's trademark slo-mo cos some of the fighting was just too fast to keep up.
Thanks, Jaden, for your review. We'll probably be on the same page.

I felt the film was quite strong and very enjoyable. Cavill own his role as Superman and Shannon makes Zod one of the most fully developed villains in any superhero film. The rest of the cast all give admirable performances. As for the flaws, well there is quite a few of them. The biggest problem is the first portion of the film is rushed and disjointed. It's almost as if the film wants to get Kal-El into the suit as fast as possible. It's understandable, but it causes us to never really understand why he became Superman. There isn't a moment where he really decides to be a hero. As for it being disjointed, the film employs flashbacks but they are placed awkwardly into the film. In fact, at times it feels we are watching two movies: one that is rather emotional while the other is an over the top action flick.
Furthermore, the Lois/Clark romance seems rather forced. In that sense it reminded me of the Thor romance. And the action, while great, is almost video-game esque. Thee is a sense that Superman is going from boss fight to boss fight. Finally, the film has an irritating habit of telling rather than showing.
Yet, once the action starts, I found the flaws to fall by the wayside. It's great and breathtaking to watch and was undoubtedly the most enjoyable film of the year so far. The film stands on the strength and power of Superman's fist and for that it succeeds.

👆 Thanks for this review. Your opinion is probably the closest match of mine. We'll see when I get back on Monday. 😄
I'm definitely looking forward to the film.
total waste of mike shannon. dont get me wrong, i thought the film was ok. but the dialogue during action sequences was kinda lame. im overall disappointed.
visuallty it was a beautiful film, as expected from snyder, and superman is believable. i wanted to see far more of him and lois. and far less stupid space ships.
also besides zod and his girl (dont remember her name, dont care) the other kryptonians were masked random extras. ****ing LAME. could have at least had their own tragic romance on screen. it was all just so ****ing dry and empty, just like into darkness.
i like the cast so i'll come back and see its sequel, but this one was kinda meh.

What I didn't like was that superman had a big struggle with... I don't know how to do spoiler tags on my phone... but at least 30 people died through collateral damage. Also, how many times can they show someone getting punched through a building, I mean really?
So everything I've heard about MOS since it came out is that it has the same relation to the Superman franchise that JJ-Trek has to Star Trek, in that it's a more universally appealing, flashier version of the franchise with less depth.
That's fine with me, as long as it helps DC get out of the starting gate and on to something better in future.

I liked the action. But then again Snyder's action is probably what I like most about his movies. The slow motion was overused to a point it made 300 look like MoS.
Well if the Wach Bros directed it, people would be moaning about too much "bullet-time" & if it was JJ then it would be too much lens flare.
J J Abrams Star Trek films are solid films. The characters have good chemistry, good dialogue, and a strong plot. There is a buildup also in the films there which was not present in Man of Steel. You can also follow along with the action unlike Man of Steel's Transformers like action where you can't even follow it.
J J Abrams >>Zack Snyder.
Star Treks are solid films unlike this film IMO.

I think i'll trust someone not full of blind hatred, thanks.
Batman trilogy was very good unlike this movie. I'm honest.
