Really interesting and promising. If anything it should please the guys freaking out over
Spoiler:I agree with the direction they took with it and their justification is good imo.
Zods death. It looks like this will be the basis of his no-kill policy.

Me too.
I mean I don't want him to be punisher, but he showed a genuinely human flaw, and a lot of people can relate to that. Which is a very common complain people have with Superman. They cannot relate because not only is he physically above us to the point of us looking like ants, but he is also so morally untouchable and high that it just becomes impossible to take him seriously.
By having Superman make a mistake that can/will haunt him for the rest of his life; they have successfully added that depth/human flaw to Superman.
My 2 cents.
Edit "But Superman is supposed to be flawless!"
Well then tough luck. This Superman is not supposed to be flawless.
Yeah, I seriously rolled my eyes when Moviebob was complaining about it. He literally said that 'Superman's supposed to be able to do anything. Thats the whole point of the character.' 🙄
I hate that. Superman was in an impossible situation and made a tough call. Thats good storytelling. Having him do a cop-out where he magics up a way to contain Zod would have felt cheap and would have been anti-climactic.

Why are people acting like he wasn't like this in the comics at all? He was; ffs, the story actually takes cues from an actual comic story.

Exactly.People are just ignoring Byrne era Superman. Even 5 years later the decision still haunted him.

Oh, I know, but it needs to keep being brought up so that it doesn't get forgotten and just accepted.

It gets worse when the same people that say "Superman can do anything that is his character" go on and say Superman is boring and stupid because he can do anything.
I mean...seriously? facepalm

True.Lets forget Reeve Superman killed Zod in Superman 2.
People are just cling really hard to their pre-conceived notions. No matter if they are horrible.
If any Donner's Superman did actually killed the villains in a complete situation in which He had already won and there was no need of him to killing them 😛
Also, Byrne Superman, but that was completely different situation as it was stated that they could regain their powers and they have already killed 5 billion humans.
So that one was deserving.
I just remember that He almost was forced to killed the word bringer, but in the end He did not do it, because Eon promise to keep him in check.
But the word bringer killed more beings than the pocket verse kryptonians.
I loved the movie. Saw it 3 times over the weekend. A certain scene at the end of the movie involving a certain boy with a cape made me shed some manly tears. If that scene isn't hopeful and uplifting, I don't know what is. Also, everything Jor-El said to Clark about what he can be to humanity was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I give the the movie a 8.5 - 9 out of 10.
My expectations were certainly met and surpassed. As a, Superman fan i couldn't be more excited to see a mature take on, Superman in the mainstream medium. As a fan of cinema i was pleased with a well paced action/drama that doesn't compromise it's integrity in order to cater to certain demographics. I never felt as though the story pulled any punches to reach a certain rating. This is one thing i was worried about when i first learned that Snyder was going to be directing.
I have always thought that, Superman was the most relevant and relatable super hero. I never understood why it seemed so difficult for hollywood to miss the point of, Superman. I think this adaptation realizes the struggle of, Supermans struggle to maintain his ideals and morals better than any thus far. His morals and ideals along with with his sense of loneliness and isolation are what i feel make his character the most relevant Superhero. The movie certainly isn't perfect and for the most part it's nothing more than just a really good superhero movie. There are, however, a few scenes and lines of dialogue that show a glimpse to the characters depth. At times the movie feels like it wants to break away from it's commitment to being a summer blockbuster superhero story but never fully departs from it's action adventure aspect. I don't think this is a bad thing by any means. It was just a nice surprise and leaves the ground work for deeper sequels.
If you like superheros or just good action movies you wont be disappointed with this one
