why?

The main reason I feel this way is:
The movie needed to appeal to a large audience of people not just fans of a particular version of superman from the comics. Something I feel the movie did not accomplish well.

There are certain basic attributes that everyone who has read and have not read the comics are familiar with about superman (i.e. mainly he rescues people and is not reckless), something that he did not show in this movie (unless you count rescuing Lois Lane).

Personally, I thought the movie spent way too much time showing flashbacks on how Clark was trying to adjust to human life instead of how he developed into superman.

I do not think the movie was bad but I do not think it was awesome. Awesome action picture, not an awesome superman picture. There are many other things I can mention but I take the movie for what it is.

To be fair he wasnt even "Superman" in the movie yet......though I get what you mean....

I feel the flashbacks were executed perfectly. The problem is Superman being a little too loose with his fighting and showing off at times when he could've done something more efficient.

Good point.

That is one of the biggest disappointments for me about the movie. 2hrs and 23 mins, in which superman appears in only 23 mins of the movie.

I get it, you really like the movie. This is going to be one of those movies in which you love it or hate it. I am the minority of those who do not love it or hate it.

No problem with the flash backs, just the movie time spent in showing them.

He got the "Superman" name from the military about 20 minutes before the end...but have to agree I definetly wanted to see more "Superman action".

Edit:
TBH I wouldnt have mind if the action took up half of the movie cause it looked great......dont get it why people say there was too much in it...it was like only 20 minutes.....and the movie was 140 minutes long....

Have to agree there it felt kinda rushed....he picked up the suit learned to fly in 3 minutes...then Zod hopped in......they could have shown him testing his strenght and other stuff....

Didn't think I'd be saying this, but 👆 to Angry Joe and 👇 (or **** you) to the other critics (yes, even Doug Walker) as far as this movie.

I believe the complaint is not how much time the action scenes took but how convoluted the action scenes were.

I have to agree with some of the comments that I have heard concerning the fight scenes that they were convoluted and at times repetitive. I.e. for example, I forget her name but the woman that serve under Zod, it seems like they kept rewinding the same scene of her moving super fast every time she fought the humans. She didn’t really do anything different.

The more I talk about this movie the more I feel they could have done so much more.

I don't think the fight scene were convoluted but I do agree that they were repetitive at times. Hey...that Faora you show your respect chump 😠

You know as much as I enjoyed the movie I can't help ut agree. Well maybe that's because I never got Superman and Zod duking it out on the moon but that's just men.

Thinking about watching this again...hmm

Gonna go see it again in the next week or two.

Same here.

Seen it 3 times 131

I remember seeing this in theaters when I went to go see TDKR.

Just finished watching (for the umpteenth time) "Superman" from 1978. I can see what a lot of people did not like about MOS: it didn't have that "feel-good" / "Yay it's Superman" feel to it. But then, it wasn't supposed to. The makers were going for realism, or at least as much realism as one could go for, given the subject matter.

Generally speaking:
"Superman" makes me want to cheer.
"MOS" awes me.

it wasn't campy so it's not Superman = what ignorant people say.

btw, there was a moment of "feel-good" when he first learned how to fly... he was down right giddy. This was a serious movie with appropriate and timely moments of levity.

I was giggling like a schoolgirl when he dons the suit and Crowe is talking about him testing his limits.
