Basically at the time they made the first X-Men movie they clearly didn't think a team movie could work without making it revolve around one central character. And they chose Wolverine to be that character.
Hopefully they realize now what BS that is in a post Avengers Movie world.
Honestly if done right the first time the X-Men movie franchise would have been as big as the Spider-Man movie franchise.

Don't agree with the Marsden thing, but I do agree that more of the blame is on the writers/director, definitely.
Fair enough. Out of interest, who in the day would you have liked play Cyke?

The X-Men films could've been huge. The animated series was at the top of the ratings for 4 years due to the characters.
To this day I chat with women who loved that show.
They appreciated the strong female roles displayed by Rogue and Storm. The films downgraded them immensely.
Singer isn't good at female roles. I will avoid the obvious reasons.

I know. I remember the first episode, "Night of the Sentinels," when we first see Rogue and Storm in the maul and they use their powers to fight that sentinel. That was awesome. And then when see Cyke for the first time, and you can tell straight away this is the guy in charge. Then he takes the sentinel down in one shot.
For us to ever get anything like that on the big screen just seems like a dream.

Whedon would knock X-Men out of the park. He's proven that he's a skilled filmmaker, and his run on Astonishing X-Men proved that he, for the most part, truly gets the characters.Though I'm sure Wolverine fans would disagree.
Whedon has to quit Marvel and go over to FOX... 😛 😛

Nice of you to be so polite about it. 😛
Honestly, I don't know, though.

Cyclops is a role that ideally should be discussed as much as who can play Batman or Wolverine.
I've not personally got someone in mind, but it should definitely be someone with a commanding presence.

That being debatable, what makes First Class better than X2 was that it centered around Fassbender and McAvoy, whilst X2 centers around Hugh Jackman, with a few nice moments from McKellen, but hardly anything from Stewart.Mathew Vaughn actually stated when making First Class that in the original X-Men films he always found the Magneto/Xavier dynamic to be the most interesting part of those films. And he was right about that Imo. There just wasn't enough of it in those films.
Cyclops and Wolverine clashing in X1 was interesting though. X1-3 would have been much better imo if they built on that relationship. Unfortunately it faded away as Cyclops role got smaller throughout the movies. As a result what we were given by the end of X3 was basically a Wolverine trilogy.
I don't know how much it's known to non-readers, but Cyclops has been, as much as, if not more than any other character, the main character in X-Men books. At the very least, he's at least tied for central role in the majority of X-Men books. Several of their biggest arcs revolved around him, him and Jean, him and Logan's rivalry, or something or other.
Like someone said, it's the equivalent of messing up Batman.

Singer needs to be split from the X-Men franchise.Too bad he will still be kept around because of the same people that make Paul Anderson keep making RE movies.
he will prolly be involved in the X-Force film somehow
