👆That's the beauty of X-Men. Magneto is especially interesting. And if you think about it, he's not any more evil (in these prequel films that is) than most governments today. In fact in a lot of ways there's a lot of nobility to him. If your a mutant chances are he'll fight to protect you from persecution.
Heck he even tried to
Spoiler:
save JFKAnd most his evil actions against humans do seem to be in self defense or in seeking out justice where no one else would/could.
Yup. Xavier and Magneto both want what's best for mutants. They just go about helping mutants in different ways. Even Bolivar Trask had justifiable reasons for doing what he was doing.
Spoiler:
And I loved how Trask was sort of a mentor to Stryker

Yep in fact in First Class Mathew Vaughn related them to Martin Luthor King and Malcom X. Two people working for the same cause, but one going about it more violently (but arguably justifiably). Plus when you see Magneto's background it makes even more sense. And the best thing is, in the actual films Magneto usually ends up being right! He warned Charles in FC that the humans will try to destroy them on Cuba after the Shaw threat was dealt with. And he was 100% right! You could easily argue Magneto was very justifiable in throwing those missiles back at those ships.
As for Trask
Spoiler:man that was a convincing argument. One very hard to argue against!
when he argues, that woman can pretend to be any of us, and that man can control your weapons, and that's just 2 of them
Wow! This was an excellent film. 8/10.
Singer outdid himself with this project and I congratulate him for it.
X3 left a bad taste for years for it's choices and this redeemed it.
As an X-Men fan I couldn't have been happier.
The comics have always dabbled in time travel and this script rectified all past mistakes with a high level of class.
My only argument with the film was its high level of extreme violence, swearing and drug use. But hey, it's only a small gripe and it actually worked. As a fan of exploitation cinema these faults were strengths.
Logan's representation in this film was better than his recent solo film and the last 10 mins of it actually had me tear up.
Spoiler:
seeing the school reformed with Jean, Xavier and Scott was a beautiful sight.
I love the X-Men above all other comic creations and this film was a pure correction of all past mistakes. Let the reboot begin 🙂
Okay I finally managed to see all of the movie including the post credit scene and I do have a few question.
So..
Spoiler:
Does this mean that Xmen 3 is no longer canon? I know Origin's isn't but I'm still confused on this one. Also where the heck did Kitty's time traveling powers come from? I know she's the one who originally goes back during this comic but it was a weird way to still make her relevant.
Overall a decent film. I would still say that Matt Vaughn did the heavy lifting as far as the success of this movie is concerned but hey that's just me.
Edit: A though just occured
Spoiler:
If Trask and friends took samples of Raven's bone tissue and brain matter, then how did she make it to the first Xmen movie
Yeah, the latter didn't make a great deal of sense to me either but then again it could have been a biopsy.
A few things:
Spoiler:
1. How did Charles get his body back?2. How did Beast, a genius who has manipulated Raven's DNA for over fifty years at in the future and is a bonafide genius, fail to make a counter measure?
3. The obvious one: what is now canon?
4. Can I have Blink? She's beyond hot.

I'll take a stab at answering some of these
Spoiler:
1. Through twin brother/clone Brett Ratner BS2. Counter measure too...the Sentinel's being uber? I doubt there's much he could do after that.
3. Reboot....so First Class and the timeline established in the events of DoFP
4. No she's mine!
Xavier trasnferred his consciousness into the brain dead man. But he got his exact body back? Maybe a mutant physically altered him or something?
The cure
Spoiler:
wasn't permanent as both Magneto and Rogue get their powers back
But there are plenty of plot holes.
Spoiler:
How is Havok as Scott's younger brother around in the past when Scott was a very young man and older than him?Ink's not even a mutant.
How did Wolverine get his Adamantium claws back in the future?
How did Bishop, a cop from the future even come back in time in the first place? He's clearly unique as Kitty only uses him to go back in time.
How does Kitty's phasing through matter let her phase a person's consciousness through space-time and retreat into the past?
Where the f*ck did Warpath, Blink, and Sunspot even come from?
etc...
I was talking about SM's post. But even then, most of what you posted aren't plot-holes but merely the difference between the comics and the films.
1. Simple. He isn't Scott's younger brother in the films.
2. He is in the film franchise.
3. Yeah, this one is a plot hole. But I'd assume Magneto is to blame.
4. Who said he came from the future in the film franchise?
5. She simply has two different powers. Just as Jean Grey can use both TK and TP. I'll admit, I was a bit confused when they intially brought it up though.
6. The fact that every single side character's origin isn't revealed is not a plot hole...
^ The Xavier one makes the most sense out of all of them, it just the fact that its stupid.
Spoiler:
The Havok one can be chalked up to Singer not liking Cyclops. Least that's how I choose to cope with it. Maybe he's not his brother in this timelineI'm guessing that those three were thrown in for the sake of having more mutant powers. Speaking of mutants, where the heck happened to Yukio?
With that said the Ink, Wolverine's Adamantium claws, Kitty's time traveling powers, and Bishop are all legit plotholes that don't make much sense.
Also since we saw Quicksilver, does that mean FOX could possibly use Scarlet Witch too?
