Yes IM's lasers are as fictional as Thor's lightning. Fact still remains that IM's laser failed to cut through the leviathan's armor whereas Thor's lightning had no problem taking 2 of them out.
Jeez are people really arguing IM has more powerful weapons than Thor?
But to be fair I doubt Thor ever hit Loki or IM with the full power he unleashed on those Leviathons.
Thor's charged hammer strike also put a Leviathon down. Although it could be argued Hulk helped with that one. Hulk penetrated the armour. Thor's charged hammer hit the Leviathon down.

Thor's lightning didn't take them out by cutting them in half like they were delicious creamy butter. The ships were techno-organic and by all appearances they simply shut down and dropped. ie he probably shorted them out.
It should also be noted that when Thor did his bottle-neck thing, he was using a building to store/generate more lightning.

He tanked Coulson's gun which emited what pretty much looked like a pulse laser. Or if you want another analogy, laser cuts by using concentrated heat. IM's repulsors, coulson's gun, hawkeye's exploding arrow, and thor's lightning all have varying degrees of heat and yet none of them even left scorch marks on Loki. What makes you think the heat from the laser will have any efffect on him when none of these others so much as left a scratch or burn or even a skin rash on him?

None of those examples showed the concentrated cutting power of IM's super-laser-bedazzler though in IM2.
