Combat speed

So on one hand we have Abhi going overboard in hyping Superman.

On another we have JBL downplaying him.

And carver... I don't even know what that is.

Business as usual, I see.

So yeah, guys, cut it out.

I like how every scan of supporting Superman is conveniently ignored by the opposition. Every time another one comes out, another lame excuse is made up for why it doesn't count.

The evidence is overwhelming, that is unless phucking blind or, as is usually the case, just hating.

JBL, you're an idiot.

There is no such thing as a 'combat speed'.

Your perception of time and your perception of your own speed determines your 'combat speed'. It doesn't magically change if you're throwing a punch or not.

Combat speed is how fast you can engage in a battle... NOT how fast you can fly or run. Spiderman has good combat speed but he cannot outrun thor in a foot race. Batman has good combat speed but he is slower than juggernaut in a foot race. Wonder Womans COMBAT SPEED is greater than supermans but she CANNOT out run or out fly superman. You have characters that have travel and running speed ranging from light to lightyears and not one of them have ran into buildings, mountains or planets. They perceived them but not one of them can fight at that speed. Combat speed IS reaction speed, its in every bio. Thats why you see characters such as Superman, WW, flash, gladiator, thor and a host of others with flight speed, running speed AND REFLEX SPEED which IS YOUR COMBAT SPEED and different from how fast you can run or fly. Really simple.

They're never not jacked up? I agree.

I already told everyone in this thread to stop comparing Superman to Wonder Woman.

I don't think Gladiator consistently operates light speed and I don't ignore comics either. Gladiator gets punched in the face consistently, so why wouldn't Zeus be able to tag him. Gladiator also got thrashed by Hulk and Hulk could not lay a glove on Zeus. So yeah, I stand by with what I've said.

But you argue Glads speed when it suits you. The problem is speed is the most unfair power in comics. It's basically time manipulation. Writer's have to ignore it from time to time to create plot. Otherwise every fast character would win in a panel and comics would be boring. It's called PIS. That is what separates comics from forum fights. Glads might not always operate at ftl speeds but he would always have superspeed. His superspeed doesn't get ignored like in comics to facilitate the plot.

1. Wonder Woman
2. Black Adam
3. Gladiator
4. Silver Surfer
5. Thor

Preboot DC versions of characters. Go.

er, not to be a smarta$$ but....isn't comparing the 2 of them (and the others) the purpose of the thread.....? 😕

Show me a thread where I said Gladiator will win due to speed. I rarely if ever give Gladiator a win over a character due to speed. I'm bringing it up here because that's the purpose of this thread.

When comparing those two, it tends to hijack threads. So rather than just close the thread, I'm letting people enjoy it for now.

if people could ****ing behave, then it would be different.

figured it was something like that. 👆

We need the comparison.

Anyways Superman side shows Clark's superior combat speed to anyone on the list here.

I change my mind to Supers 100, Wondy 98, Bladam 96, Gladz 96, Thor 40's (but with reaction time of 9000)

that can be said about a bazillion other topics too. The characters continue to evolve or are added to. There's always a chance things may have been missed as well. I don't mind revisiting things to find new perspectives.

neither do I, when there's a new perspective. Not the same thing being brought up over and over again, and turning threads to shit.

In Wondy/Supes' pre-reboot case, however, it's not like new material is going to come out, nor are we likely to have missed a fight as they tend to be fairly significant.

Wonder Woman performed how she did in the last half-dozen times they fought. Superman performed how he did. They have the wins, losses, and draws that they did, fighting precisely as hard as they did. Unless the old universe is returned, that's not going to change.
