Ok, let me break down both the good and the bad before I give my final verdict in the spoiler tags.
Spoiler:
The good: Kylo Ren and the promise of Snoke. I am a sucker for baddies and from the opening scene I was not disappointed well for the most part. That frozen blaster shot finally demonstrates the power of the force to me. That entire scene of the Stormtroopers and what not was awesome. Now Snoke's appearance is the combination of Voldemort and Gollum. He seems dark and the seductive mentor all powerful master who will oppose Luke the powerful warrior. The direction of the next film and the whole time to complete his training angle I'll love especially if they show Kylo' training like we saw Luke's with Yoda. He could still be Darth Plagueis so I'll still hold onto that hope.
I liked BB8 as well. I wanted him to be ok.
Ok now let's get to the things I didn't like. I hated how quickly and easily the starkiller base was destroyed. Captain Phasma was a waste of space. She walked around looking all big and bad and was taken hostage without a fight by them. I know they are planning on more for her but she was shit in this film.
Finn and Rey did next to nothing for me. I don't meant to imply the acting was terrible I just mean I don't give a rats ass about either one. I also didn't care for the route they went as he was just some sanitation stormtrooper. Make him a little more badass than that.
Now this is something even I didn't really focus in on but once I saw Chewbacca walk past Leia after Han's death it was practically unforgivable. Why the hell put Chewbacca in that scene at all ? I get that the point of the scene was to have Leia meet up with Rey but just don't have Chewie in the scene dammit.
Poe was decent. I liked him despite the small screen time he looks to be a cooler new character aside from my dark side preferences.
Kylo stole the movie for me. Based off his scenes he was the best actor in this film. Driver. Loved the scene where he killed Han. Never bought Han's hype in the first place. Hopefully, his shittty mom goes next and save Luke for the finale.
This was nowhere near as great as Rots. This wasn't close to the hype I had going in. It's a more than decent Star Wars film but it isn't close to great. Everything was played too safe. The Luke reveal at the end fell flat for me. I didn't have any of those emotional moments like I did for Abrams Trek.
Now the argument can be made that since I didn't give a **** about Trek pre Abrams that it's an easier sell since I didn't expect shit. With this film I was expecting the messiah to come home.
The future still looks very bright and it pains me to say this. I am glad Abrams isn't directing the sequel. Still love the man and this movie is still above average but failed to meet the standards I expected from him. I know this definitely got the ball rolling and the first of a trilogy gives us the least resolution so it's way better than a New Hope and Phantom Menace for me.
I'd really love a better choreographed duel after Kylo completes his training. He went for the whole primal thing. It wasn't terrible but I want it to be flashy and show greater skill. They should explain in the next film why she was so adept with a saber minus no training save for the whole mystical element. I went with six guys. It was split pretty evenly with those who loved it and those who were disappointed. I was disappointed but mainly due to the expectations I had for this film. I'll give my updated Star Wars order in the other thread. The future is still bright and I'll definitely lower my expectations for the next film. It doesn't have to be the best Star Wars film to date although I'll always want that.

Pretty awesome, I really loved it. Gonna be a drag waiting until this entire new trilogy will be available in a boxed set.
Just be happy it's not Lucas, cos you'd get the box set, then later a box set with improved sound would be relased, then a boxed set with added scenes, then enhanced CGI so on and so forth.
