Iyo, nerd not mine.

You're the one giving virtual blowjobs to Abrams for a mediocre sci-fi film yet I'm the nerd?

Are you ****ing kidding me ? Do you think Disney would go after someone who put out mediocre work ? You're insane. Into Darkness was a masterpiece.

Abrams best film so far is Star Trek 2009.

It is all subjective but for me it is Into Darkness. One of the best films I've ever seen.

Would Disney go after someone who does mediocre work?

Mmmmm. Let's see.

Jon Favreau
Kenneth Branagh
Alan Taylor
Andrew Stanton
Rob Marshall
Gore Verbinski

So yeah I'd say they've got plenty form for giving big budgets and big franchises to poor directors

This is the kickoff to many planned Star Wars films so it's very pivotal to the franchise going forward. This is also your opinion not a fact. We will see who is right come December. No one has more faith in Abrams than I do.

Kenneth Branagh

Actually, I think Brannagh would have been a better choice for director imo.

What do you mean "We'll see who is right"?

December won't change the fact that Disney hand films to untested and/or mediocre directors.

I'm well aware no-one has more faith in Abrams than you do. You state it almost every post

When the movie is amazing and you're like dammit Quan you were right I'll be there to point and give a Nelson like giggle.

That's unrelated to your point. You said Disney wouldn't get a mediocre director to helm a big film. I proved you wrong.

I do think it'll be better than his Trek efforts as SW suits his style-over-substance approach more than Trek did.

No, you didn't as I don't find those directors to be mediocre.

His Trek films were the best the franchise has ever known. We have huge differences of opinion. Abrams isn't mediocre but give me three directors who iyo are exceptional.

And yet it's still better than both Star Treks

It's only problem is it didn't pick a target audience. It was an 80s movie ala The Goonies designed to appeal to grown ups with nostalgia for those types of films and failed to resonate cos it was essentially a kids movie but failed to resonate with them cos it was set in 1979.

As a piece of entertainment it was excellent though.

Super 8 is really underrated 👆

I'd wager you had to Google most of those directors to know who they are, let alone what films they made.

3 exceptional directors?

David Fincher
Martin Scorcese
Danny Boyle

All proven to made exceptional movies across a number of genres.

Abrams is decent, not great. So, I agree with Jaden on this one.

He's good with sci-fi movies.

Just hope he GETS Star Wars, and doesn't overdo giving us OT nostalgia.

His Star Trek movies would have been a lot better without the f#cking shaky cam and lens flares. That's a sign of a poor director, imo, because it is terrible cinematography. But who knows, maybe he was suckered into following the modern trend. I suspect Star Wars will be handled a bit more preciously. I hope.

I think this film will be better then any of the prequels and ROTJ. The action scenes will also be a franchise best.

Quan, how big of a part will you be playing in this movie?

I'd hope so on the action part, CGI has come a long way in the last 10 years.

Hopefully we'll get to see what can really happen when two powerful Force-users clash. I'm hoping for live versions of the SWTOR CGI fight scenes.
