Yeah, it would basically have to ignore the statements made earlier in the page.

But we can't ignore them. If Gladiator is said to have travelled 200 light years in a few minutes, that phucks with relativity...but we can't just dismiss it.

If Batman is said to be a normal human, yet can do all these kinds of weird shit, we can't ignore it.

If gamma radiation causes cancer in real life, but comics allows super strong green monsters with indestructible pants, we don't ignore it.

Not at all the same thing, but you know that.

True. My interpretation doesn't cherry pick what to accept and what to ignore; other interpretations do.

If the writer has zero clue about basic maths, doesn't mean we just throw it out.

The writer said it was under light speed. Real life math is not needed in comics unless writers want to spend the day trying to explain how certain characters take hits from the likes of hulk or juggernaut or how the Earth withstand its own weight.

Writer said they were carried there under light speed. Nothing more.

Writer also said the entire evacuation took place in 0.00001 MICROSECONDS. And they travelled 35 miles away. And that there were 500,000 people. All pretty damn specific.

We don't just cherry pick what we want. We take all of it.

They were carried there under light speed. And all of them materialised 35 miles away in 0.0001 microseconds.

Its that rare problem when a writer contradicts themselves in the same breath. McDuffie did a similar thing with the shadow moon iirc. TBH, I'd rather just avoid the use of it altogether.

DC's lightspeed is just really really fast perhaps. Lol

IIRC at one point in Infinite Crisis Superboy Prime was traveling toward Oa, from Earth and it was said he was only going lightspeed to get there.

Yet it obviously would not have taken him billions of years.

The shadow moon feat is an actual contradiction.

I gave a real world example of how it wouldn't be contradictory, with my convo with my neighbour.

Did I break the speed limit? My statement certainly said I didn't. But at the same time,I made a return trip from NYC to Boston in 6 hours. No contradiction (see the previous page).

The entirety of it was at sub light speeds if you ignore the calculations and just accept the dialog at face value.

But that's not what you nerds do.

Yep.

Carver, I replied to you. When you get a chance to stop cheerleading, pull your panties back up and sit down and read.

😠

Ha. It will be a simple reading comprehension test.

After you've read my little short story, I will want you to tell me whether I went over the speed limit.

Assume none of my statements were lies. DS is made of truth.

I didn't see what you said, but I'm sure there's a 50/50 chance you've Carvered it up.

Exactly.

Like your own post states - AFTER he was carrying people.

His last trip, OUT of the city (because, why would his last trip be back INTO the city???) would be him carrying someone.

UNDER the speed of light, as statement 2 said.

Not sure why you added it, but OK.

Let me couch it in terms you can understand.

A convo with my neighbour
[A winter's day at my house in NYC]

'Hey DS, what did you do last night?'

'Man, I drove to Boston and back again in like 6 hours. NEVER again!'

'Jeez, man, did you break any speed limits? Remember now, I'm a cop - legally, you can't lie to me!!'

'Well, when I drove back, I was just under the speed limit.'

[End scene]

Now, question, dear readers - Did DS break the speed limit at all? NYC to Boston and back again is 450 miles in total. Took me 6 hours. Speed limit on the freeway is 55mph in both NY and Mass.

No Carvering. Dialogue is how DS speaks, true to life.

Answer this, then I will read your post. It states At 13:57 and .000001 Microseconds 500000 people dematerialize. The question is "at 13:57 AND .000001 microseconds. What does that mean?

Oh that. I saw that.

I see what you're getting at, but I don't think it completely saves the writing in the comic.

Has anyone thought about asking the writer about that scene?

Does it mean 1. DC/Flash's lightspeed is different than RL, or 2. Do we ignore his specific time and distance measurements as something he cocked it up?

@carver : It doesn't say dematerialise...i think you meant materialise?

The earlier part of the page says at 13:57 the nuke exploded.

At 13:57:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:01 (or whatever it is), 500,000 people seemed to materialise 35 miles away.

So in between the nuke exploding at 13:57 and 13:57:00:00:00....(can't be arsed to write it all out) Flash evacuated the entire city all to a safe location 35 miles away.

Writer's thoughts are inadmissible. Even if he cocked it up, well, Stan Lee cocked the effects of mutations and radioactivity up all the time lol.

I think what DS is saying is making sense but I don't think it's what the writer intended. I think the writer just poopooed it

How the hell are writer's thoughts inadmissable?

His thoughts are what created the page flow. Sometimes mistakes happen and clarification is required.

The same way art mistakes can happen in comics, writers can make typos or other mistakes that they didn't intend.
