But Marvel is giving us an African superhero before any other studio. And Disney's clearly not afraid of female leads anymore after Force Awakens.

Marvel already gave us the first African superhero movie in the Blade series. In fact Blade may have been the first major release movie based on a Marvel character.

Disney's Marvel really is doing it how it's supposed to be done. Fox and DC need to take notes.

Demon in a Bottle is an epic Iron Man story.

It's overrated and outdated. But it did raise a very important subject and could be re-done, yes.

Nah, WS would be awesome. I'd really like a Silver Surfer movie but those damn rights are all mucked up cinematically.
I'm talking a female lead superhero movie. Marvel needs to get going on that imo.

I read an article where Shane Black said he wanted to have a female villain for Iron Man 3 but Disney said no because the toy wouldn't sell.

Fans have been asking for a Black Widow film. I'd like to see that.

Add Netflix Punisher's guest appearance and it'd be a great team-up movie.

Actually doing some research Howard the Duck was the first major release for a Marvel character, Blade was 2nd.

I didn't realize this but the Blade movies were all rated R.

I would rather have Ms. Marvel than Widow.

Most of Marvels top female heroes are owned by Fox imo.

They are doing better than any other company and they don't even have full access to all their comic book characters.

Storm
Jean Grey
Rouge
Invisible Woman
Mystique
Psylocke
Emma Frost

Am I missing anyone else? None of these can carry a movie, they don't have a lot of back stories or villains.

Marvel has.

Ms Marvel
She-Hulk
Black Widow
Elektra
Valkyrie
Gamora
Lady Sif
Scarlet Witch
Wasp

Marvel has a good list of women to pick from. The ones that can carry a movie are Ms Marvel, Sh-Hulk, Black Widow, and possibly Valkyrie. Marvels roster is better because it's not stuck with the I was born with these powers. They also suck at selling us the world hates mutants and mutants are victims perspective.

Ms Marvel - already in works
Black Window - might get another spy thriller. Can make a revenge story or Bourne style movie.
She-Hulk - Matt Murdock meets Deadpool movie. Can be romantic comedy like Deadpool was or Erin Brokavich meets Deadpool.
Valkyrie - Thor/Xena type movie set in one of the nine realms.

Marvel can also make a female team and call them heroes for hire, Secret Warriors, or Defenders.

With the exception of Carol and Black Widow, Fox still seems to have gotten the better end of the female characters IMO. I guess everyone got bored talking about how awesome Civil War is now with taks of introducing more female superheroes from Marvel's end.

On a slightly unrelated note, I've always wonder is it sexist to keep calling Carol Ms.Marvel instead of Captain Marvel now.

Surprised this is having horrible legs OS compared to AOU, especially with the great reviews and Spider-Man.

^ Must be superhero saturation starting to kick in. Think in future years only those rare epic movies (like this one) will be hitting a Billion WW.

Legs are better than BvS, even though this is a Cap movie not an Avengers one and that Spiderman wasnt advertised much. Also having tougher competition than BvS had in the weeks released.

Legs are not that bad.

They're not that good either.

Meh, still 1 billion + for a non Avengers movie isnt bad. All I care is quality tbh. Which it had in spades.

Everyone who's surprised this doesn't have legs isn't paying attention. Civil War is not good as a standalone thing that the wider audiences unfamiliar with marvel can go to multiple times, it's more like an episode in a TV show.

Age of Ultron, while an inferior movie to civil war IMO, is definitely better as a standalone thing that's more accessible. Also as far as titles Avengers became a bigger brand then just Captain America alone.

Golgo is just so jealous he's struggling to find ways to insult this movie.

It made over $1 billion, it'll probably pass IM3 and even if it doesn't it's still a great movie and that's all that matters.

Golgo is jealous two DC icons couldn't make a billion but a stand alone Cap film did so.

I honestly don't think it's fair to classify it as being a standalone Cap film. It is more a Cap film than an Avengers film, yes, but I know people that had their mind made up the minute they knew RDJ was going to be in it. That man is an absolutely huge draw even today, and when you add in the rest of the characters, I'm not surprised it's doing the money it is.
