The writing for this movie was pretty bad. From the gohan nerfing to vegetas weird reaction to frieza (this guy destroyed your whole race and made you a slave, how about a little more emotion than mild annoyance) to the garbage deus ex machina ending. Battle of the gods was better and I wasnt to fond of that one either.

Lets not tell them...somehow means they can't feel the power at all? They followed ki before so they could have easily sensed everything.
Yeah, that was ridiculous... As was Boo not being there. It would have been awesome for him to show up toward the end of the "Z Fighters vs. Freeza's soldiers" sequence, and save the day by transmuting all of them into candy. I'd also like to have seen where Boo(or Gotenks) stacks up next to 1st form Freeza... But I digress.
My main hope now is that DBS will iron-out some of the major inconsistencies in RoF, and hopefully make it seem less rushed in the process. 👆
Come to think of it, bbrem was probably referencing this scene:
Back out in space, Sorbet informs Freeza that they will be arriving on Earth shortly. Freeza is pleased to hear this, but wonders why they've only been able to locate one of the Saiyans who defeated him, Son Goku. Sorbet speculates that the other Saiyan may have gone to another planet, or is dead, because they have not been able to track him down in all the time since Freeza's defeat. According to their current data, the only Saiyans still on Earth are Son Goku, Vegeta, and Son Goku's son. Freeza supposes this is fine, but Sorbet is concerned that even if they do succeed, their friends will simply resurrect them again with the Dragon Balls. That won't be a problem though, because Freeza plans to destroy Earth, wiping out the Dragon Balls and that insufferable Hell of theirs. Freeza then double checks that Sorbet remembers their contingency plan. Sorbet, manically rubbing his hands together, says of course he does. "Excellent..."
...In which case, yeah, Freeza was asking about Trunks. I was thinking about Tarble's reference in BoG at first. 😮

^ In the original Japanese dub, Freeza, after first being awakened, says:
"Is that so surprising? In my estimation, if I train hard for 4 months, then I should acquire a battle power of 1.3 million..."
However, the manga adaption simply makes a blanket statement w/o listing any specific PLs(which makes a LOT more sense):
Regardless, Freeza's "estimation" ended up being grossly inaccurate. After all, a PL of 1.3m would barely even register as a blip on Piccolo/Gohan's radar at this point... Yet Toriyama certainly went out of his way to show us that 1st form Freeza was already in the upper-echelon of ki that the Z Fighters had ever sensed(they were literally awestruck at his power.) That's why most agree 1st form Freeza(post-training)~Super Boo, at the very least.
You'll have to excuse Freeza's naivete. He had never trained a day in his life, so he had no clue what type of gains he could actually achieve. 🙂
It's obvious when he said that, he was talking about his first form which only had a power level in the 530k range. That's a HUGE jump in power. So I agree with this, but, he went above his estimation (first form) and achieved a power level far greater for his base form. With that said, his statement was true in a way but false since he went above his expectations.

how about the speed gohan was going in base form. Pretty crazyThat kind of thing is what I really like about this new DBZ stuff. Actually showing there speed
Yep. Everything frozen around him when he hit those soldiers. Like time stopped and he wasn't even powered up when he did that. Beastly showing.

As I mentioned above: Freeza had never trained a day in his life, so he had NO idea how large of a gain he would actually achieve by training. 1.3m was just his inexperienced(and grossly inaccurate) guess.
Because even SSJ Gohan(whose PL was in the hundredS of millionS) was no match for 1st form Freeza:
Couple that with how f*cking awestruck everyone was at his power, and it's perfectly logical to assume that 1st form Freeza's ki was already among the greatest they'd ever sensed.
So given the above, *hopefully* no one here will actually try and cap Freeza at 1.3m, simply because of a single throw-away line that can be definitively proven wrong... But my hopes are probably too high, me thinks. srsly

Granted, we know the estimate he gave there was still grossly inaccurate either way, but I'm surprised that FUNimation still included such a nonsensical bit of dialogue in the English release... They must be trying to hold as true to the original Japanese dialogue as possible these days... ermm
It way definitely a throw away line.
Piccolo and Gohan were still absolutely nothing compared to 1st form Freeza after he trained. This was made abundantly clear by the in-film dialogue:
Roshi: "What do you think, boys... If all 5 of us team up, do we have a shot against [1st form Freeza]?"
Piccolo: "I'm sorry, but no. He's in a completely different class than we are. It's not even close."
As a conservative/logical estimate, Gohan and Piccolo would have each possessed a PL in the upper hundredS of millionS at the time. So yeah, trying to cap even 1st form Freeza at 1.3m is laughably ridiculous. Hell, judging their awestruck reactions to his ki and whatnot, I would place 1st form Freeza somewhere in the Boo-tier, personally. /shrug
