Man, I hope that episode gets remade/remastered in the future. Whether it was due to rushing it out or whatever resulted in the animation there, this is just embarrassing. Still need to catch up on that episode, but looking forward to it a lot less now.

Episode 5 is easily the most atrocious DB-related anime episode that I've ever seen in my life. 😘

The **** is this shit? Jesus my eyes are bleeding.

Haha, when I saw that last picture, I literally lol'd. Goku looks like a mix of Will Ferrel, and Kercheck, from Tarzan.

Then I cried... crybaby

ROF was pretty good though. I still disliked that they continued to use CGI in this movie though, which was one of the main complaints I heard about BOTG's. Still better than this shit though.

It's almost like Toei spent their entire budget for DBS on the first 3 episodes, because the last 2 eps have taken a massive nosedive in quality... Real shame.

It's weird as **** that they have this problem, though.

Because the fans, alone, would independently fund the utter living shit out of a new series to hire top-notch artists, director, writers, effects, and so forth.

Seriously...the fans could probably put out $200 million, easily, per season.

Some execs are soooooooooooo far up their own asses that they have no idea how the world works. DB fans...absurdly in love with their franchise and they are in the tens if not hundreds of millions in number.

I think Toei is being cheap for exactly the reason you posted. Because DBZ has millions of fans worldwide, they know that they can make money regardless. Afterall it works with One Piece so why put more money/time into production when the outcome is mostly the same?

A few more accurately translated excerpts from DBS, Episode 5:

Statements about Goku:

--Beerus' comment on base Goku is basically the same as in BoG, but with 到底 ("cannot possibly", "no matter how"😉 thrown in for extra emphasis that he was far inferior to Freeza.

--Beerus' comment on Super Saiyan Goku's power: "I can understand how you defeated Freeza. But if this is all you've got, defeating Freeza would probably be the best you're capable of."

--After Goku becomes Super Saiyan 2, Beerus states "oh, so you've powered up this much" (phrased in a way that implies he's powered up a lot).

--Beerus describes Super Saiyan 3 as "several levels" stronger than regular Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan 2. Even Whis, who earlier doubted if the fight would last long enough for him to eat his lunch, now thinks he'll have enough time.

--Beerus calls Goku a fighting prodigy because he somehow could tell Beerus was about to attack (an attack Beerus says would "definitely" have felled Goku), despite Goku being unable to sense Beerus' ki.

Statements about Beerus:

--Kaio describes Beerus as in "another dimension" than the foes Goku has previously fought. That's the same phrase that's been kicked around throughout the main series, describing the likes of Freeza/Super Saiyan Goku/the mighty Kaioshin/revived Freeza, and also Saitama (probably the only person who actually lives up to such hyperbole).

--Kaio then immediately goes on to say that Beerus is powerful enough to blow Goku to the ends of the universe with just a snort from his nose. The joke is that in Japanese this phrase involves stringing together many words that all begin with "ha".

--After getting defeated, Goku says it doesn't look like he and Vegeta could defeat Beerus even if they merged together. This is no different from what he says in the BoG extended edition.

Timeline info:

--Whis says Beerus last came to North Kaio's planet 327 years ago. If Super is set in Age 775, then Beerus' previous visit (and the destruction of Kaio's original planet) was in Age 448.

--When Goku asks for a fight, Beerus says he's never heard such a thing even though he's lived for hundreds of millions of years. During the equivalent part of BoG, he merely says he's never heard such a thing in all his "long life".

*The above translations were provided by Herms and The Dragon Team.

It also seems like Goku body has a mind of its own. When he charged Beerus at Super Saiyan 3, his body flew back away from Beerus because it realized the threat. Goku body has a self defense.

Yep, it was an instinctual reaction. He dodged without thinking... Without even knowing why he dodged. That's why Beerus called him a prodigy.

Whis is trying to teach he and Vegeta how to fight like that all the time(something even Beerus has not yet mastered after millions of years of training.) IF they learn to fight in this manner, they will presumably be on par with Whis.

On a negative note: the animation was painful to watch at times:

I threw up a little. Apparently DB Super is not so super...

Hopefully, it won't be that bad again.

*It's also nice to know that Beerus(and Whis) evidently can sense ki. 👆

Do you guys think it is reasonable to assume all Dragonballs are equal in movement speed

You mean the speed at which they disperse after the wishes have been granted? There's no reason they wouldn't all move equally as fast, imo.

Excellent.

The Dragonballs are faster than Whis.

Maybe(hopefully) the Dragon Balls began dispersing a lot faster after Dende retooled them, because back in the day, even kid Goku was capable of catching them:

...And he was obviously not faster than Whis, lol.

Also, why are the Dragon Balls faster than Whis? What did I miss?

The Dragonballs flew from Namek to Earth in 2 minutes~

Still not following..? 😕

It took Kami's ftl(or thereabouts) spaceship 31 days to get to Namek from Earth.

It took the Dragonballs 2 minutes lol.

So how does Whis factor into that?

Mostly cause we don't have any time frames or distances in Whis' case. It is the best showing of speed we have numbers for.

I mean if he is faster than the balls, which is something I can totally buy, then Dragonball has entered a whole new realm of speed feats.

Oh, okay. Thought I missed a speed showing from Whis at first. 👆

Honestly, I doubt the Dragon Balls are faster than him. I mean, they might be, but so far Toriyama has gone out of his way to show us that Whis' travel speed>ALL. On that note, it's odd that he and/or Beerus haven't learned to teleport... As impatient as Beerus is, you'd think he'd prefer instantaneous travel. /shrug
