True enough, but the issue is that the episode is called "the final barrier of hope", and we see 17 saving Goku and Vegeta with his barrier here:

^ Given that #17's shield couldn't even hold up to Hakaishin Toppo's barrage of standard fingertip ki attacks, I'm guessing that he is probably pouring most of the energy in his reactor into that shield if it can withstand blasts from a powered-up Jiren.
So IF that is indeed what happens, and IF indeed Jiren breaches #17's full-power shield(or tanks the release/detonation of his reactor), it will imply that he can beat 'infinite' energy.
...On another note, Gero might be the most brilliant scientist in all of fiction. Tech he built can rival the f*cking Gods, lol.
Anime Jiren is a complete asshat. Powerful as he may be, arrogantly insulting Toppo like that for no reason hugely diminished his character. Instead of being concerned for his partner's well-being after Vegeta kamikaze'd him, he instead calls Toppo "pathetic"... Just like you'd expect from any run of the mill DBZ villain.
Dunno, I just figured Jiren would have higher moral standards, considering he is a universal defender and all... Hell, wasn't he just acting like Vegeta's arrogance was unforgivable a few episodes ago..? srsly
Anywho, I hope the manga continues to shape Jiren's character in such a way that he stays likeable, because the anime just wrecked him for me.

Yep, but I'm betting he'll be fatigued(to *some* extent), just like Goku was after expending all of his energy against Jiren the first time.I hate that Vegeta thought about Cabba at all... As though his wife and TWO children aren't enough of a motivator, lol.
What a f*cking prick. srsly
Yeah, I guess it's good that Vegeta is finally thinking of others before himself... But as a husband and father myself, I can't imagine thinking of anyone but my wife/children in a life or death situation. Some random kid I've only met twice in my lifetime certainly wouldn't register equally alongside my own family, lol.
...But that's just my [biased] opinion. 😛
*On another note, Jiren unleashing his full power next episode *should* definitively end the debate on where exactly he stands compared to Beerus and the other Hakaishin, so that's nice.
If the previews are any indication, we know he will swat away Goku and Vegeta's "full power" attacks, effortlessly... Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, given that the latter supposedly just used up all of his power when he kamikaze'd Toppo, but I digress... And as mentioned: for #17 to play any sort of role against an unleashed Jiren means he will literally HAVE TO use the entire payload of his infinite energy reactor, imo. Should be something to see.
...And I can only assume that between #17 utilizing 'infinite' energy(maybe) and Jiren unleashing his full power, Goku's UI will finally be triggered for a third and final time.
Originally posted by carver9No, Jiren was probably disappointed because when Toppo assumed his Hakaishin form, he cast aside everything he believed in -- cast aside justice itself(which is basically the ethos of the Pride Troopers)... And he STILL lost.
Think Jiren said that to Toppo due to the Universe being on the line and him being the last man standing. .
...Not that it makes Jiren any less of an arrogant douche for bashing him after the fact, mind you.
Jiren said some important words at the end of this episode... "you gained all of this power without giving up anything". I wonder what he meant by that. Did he give up something to attain all the power he have. I wonder what that statement meant because I'm sure it means SOMETHING involving him and his power or his morality.
It was just another way for him to bash Toppo.
As I mentioned, Toppo threw away justice itself --threw away the very ethos of the Pride Troopers-- in order to attain his Hakaishin-esque level of power. Conversely, Goku and Vegeta(whom Jiren was speaking to) didn't have to cast aside their own morals/values in order to attain the power they have.
