And I'll add Israel to that list, which has a gun per virtually every household. Sp yes, it's a gun culture but I'd say the "worship" of guns here is extremely overrated.

Furthermore, there are examples of countries with more gun control having more gun related violence than countries with less but again, that's probably due to a lot of variables.

Eh these mass murderers have historically been nut jobs.

And i don't think "sanity" is taken hold just because we have a pseudo universal healthcare option now.

None of those countries has the same level of gun ownership as America though. Serbia and Yemen aren't exactly great rolemodel countries.

Last nights Bill Maher episode showcased the problem this country has with guns and just the crazy mentality. He showed a picture of an actual sign that he had snapped a photo of a couple years ago from some town.

The sign read "If you hit a child due to speeding you will not need a lawyer" and it had a picture of a gun under it.

Was really looking at Switzerland and Israel

Was there ever a single instance where one of those hardline gun supporters actually stopped the homicidal maniac? Since that's the main pro gun argument.

Yup, here in Texas, many times per year.

Also to claim there's a worship of guns in this country begs proof because that's quite an indictment.

Yup, here in Texas, many times per year.

The Old Soviet Union when planning military invasions of the U.S actually made their plans to go AROUND Texas. Wanna guess why?

There's a huge gun culture here in Texas, probably the biggest in the country. Yet we fall somewhere down the lower 4th of the pack when it comes to gun related deaths.

I wonder why...

Where are you getting these stats? As far as I can tell Texas is in the upper half for murders and almost in the top third for violent crime overall (and that is per-capita, of course).

Additionally Texas seems to be one of the most common places for mass shootings to occur.

None of these links seem to work for me, the first I can't click anything, the second doesn't mention Texas, and the third is devoid of data.

The second link however puts your claim of Texas being in the lower fourth to question, as it is not on the list of 20 best in this chart:

It is also not in the in the 20 worst, which means it must be in the 10 in the middle. Now, the following data excludes suicides and accidental deaths, and it is for homicide overall (although I would wager most of those are performed by gun in the US) and it also supports Texas being middle (upper middle to be precise) of the pack: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_state

First one is a slideshow. Im not clicking 21 times. **** that.

But we were discussing gun related deaths were we not? So Texas at worse is in the middle of the pack despite having possibly the biggest gun culture in the US.

Sure, and I am not arguing your point either way, just the claim that Texas is in the lower 4th, when it is actually in the upper half.

Not in gun related deaths. You gave me overall homicide rates.

But even your own link (the one that works) shows that Texas is not in the lower fourth.

According to this, it appears Texas is #30. So more like the lower 3rd.

#31. That makes texas the 19th worst state for gun violence. You were mistaken.

Well, if that list is correct, and it doesn't agree with the other link, then Texas is still in the middle third. Close to the lower third though, admittedly.

Also interesting, the 2nd link you provided also color-codes the states by party:

It seems that the best are overwhelming Democrat led, and the worst Republican led. Now that doesn't necessarily mean anything, just interesting to note.

Sorry, I meant 29 states have more gun related deaths than Texas. You are reading the graphs wrong.

Yea not sure but all the links I've been reading show states with the most liberal gun laws have the least amount of gun related deaths and vice versa. It's quite interesting.

No you are reading it wrong. In the last link you posted, Texas is the ranked #31 in best-to-worst out of 50 states. 50 -31=19.

Lets try this again. 29 states have more guns deaths per 100,000 people. Therefore Texas is #30 in terms of most gun deaths and 21 in terms of least gun deaths.

50-29=21.
