So in short: Yep Lucifer can take on an IG wielder.

Only in the minds of Vertigo fanboys.

Classic IG destroys him and his entire feeble reality.

Strange since I don't even like Vertigo so I'm not a fanboy. But you see just because I dislike something I do not discount the power of the beings in it.

Dislike has nothing to do with this.

I dislike Wonder Woman but I realize she'd stomp Creeper (one of my fav DC characters).

The IG destroys, especially the Classic version.

The notion that dreams shaped the Supreme Being would mean that Dream of the Endless holds a degree of power/control over the Supreme Being itself... Which we know is definitely not canonically accurate. That would also mean the dreamers would have to predate the Supreme Being... Which, again, we know is definitely not canonically accurate. First came The Presence. Then came Michael/Lucifer. Then came everyone/thing else in the multiverse(inc. The Endless and the concepts they embody.) That is established canon fact.

I'm guessing this is why writer interviews and whatnot aren't admissible as evidence on the forums. Carey is inadvertently trying to faux-retcon decadeS-worth of canon history in a single formspring response, lol.

👆

This is why I took Carey's answer to be more of a broad philosophical point about real dreamers.

What's definitely established concerning the "Carey response,"
is that he never meant the 'real world writers' (as we/kmc believed for years)
when he wrote the Presence stating, he was shaped by "external forces."

The rest of the argument is beyond my knowledge ... but this at-least, is a fact I assume.

really? i'm genuinely curious where it was shown so factually that he wasn't referring to real world creators.

i've always thought his directing us to an issue of sandman referencing a creations' ability to 'create' their god, was sorta....metaphorical (or maybe metatextual would better define it?) anyway, imo he was alluding to the fact that we, the readers, have dreamed and created gods, and some of those gods we have put down on paper. so the external forces really ARE us, but a more....amorphous 'us'. all of us real people and our dreams and creativity, are the external forces. but, maybe that's just me.

👆

But how does Thanos lose if I don't think he does?

That doesn't even make sense.

Thanos wins without the ig.

Lucifer is underrated and well Thanos is Thanos. He would defeat Lucifer both mentally and physically.

Are people serious. Thanos takes the glove off and biitch slaps that trick lucifer across the face. This is a non fight. Thanks stomps

😂 You guys are hilarious.

Lucifer wins. Easily.

You sure did a good job at showcasing your ability to quote multiple things. Was there a point? Since thinking Lucifer can take on an IG wielder..still doesn't make one a Vertigo fanboy.

It doesn't matter. Because the argument wasn't intended to force a reinterpretation of established canon, but to discredit the argument that the Presence referenced the writers.
