You keep bringing up Order 66 and saying that wouldn't have happened if Zao was followed. Well duh. But if Zao had been followed the Order would have been wiped out by the Imperial armada. So what's your point? Zao isn't saving any lives by hiding. He's only changing how the Jedi get massacred. 😬
point is if Zao and Yoda switched places and Zao was grand master and held great sway, he would have NOT had any jedi participate in the clone wars. no jedi generals leading clone troopers. he would not involve the jedi in the clone wars. whoever was leading the grand army of the republic it would not be jedi.
zao also would not have the jedi serve the republic as he saw it was corrupt.

I did 'butterfly that' and the answer is still the same. The Jedi would have been destroyed by an armada rather than their own troops.
Not to mention that Zao leading the Jedi would have made a Sith takeover so easy. He practically hands the Sith the galaxy. He wouldn't have even tried to fight Palpatine or Vader. How is that wise?

zao would not involve the jedi in the clone wars does not mean jedi would act in self-defense if directly attacked.
how would jedi be worse off if they refused to participate in the clone wars as generals under zao from how it actually did turn out under yoda?

i don't think its a foregone conclusion if zao was grand master from before TPM and guiding it that anakin falls. if u watch tcw a lot of battles he is in fuels anakins rage and anger. zao would not have any jedi participate in a battle for the republic.
spiritual practices isn't limited only to light saber combat.
in karate kid mr miyagi was trying to catch flies with chop sticks as a way to learn concerntration and patience

can you explain to me how if zao's philosophy of the force was in place for the jedi before TPM, and that the jedi refused to serve as generals and fighters for the republic, instead as pacifists, healers, diplomats, but no war or combat of any kind, they would be any worse off than how things happened under yoda's direction?
under zao, anakin pong krell quinlan vos bariss offee would not see any combat. instead they and all the jedi would focus their meditation to maintaining balance in the force or trying to align the force to the light side only.
