Kylo Ren vs Darth Vader

Well technically what they said to Bane was "You will take us to the holocron", so more of a control thing

However Vader did fail to get information from Leia. In fact he had torture her. But still getting it from Luke was Impressive. So I dunno. Just another inconsistent ability I guess.

But I wouldn't put it past Bane to know Resisting techniques. The Bounty Hunters in the PT were generally better prepared to tackle Jedi.

I would. If the Jedi had an intensive mind probe technique it would have been damn useful in the PT. More than likely most don't know it as it appears to be a dark side technique.

Luke was overwhelmed by emotions and couldn't control his mind:

Luke withdrew further into shadow. He tried to hide, but there was no way to hide what was in his mind - Leia was in pain. Her agony cried to him now, and his spirit cried with her. He tried to shut it out, to shut it up, but the cry was loud, and he couldn't stifle it, couldn't leave it alone, had to cradle it openly, to give it solace.
—Return of the Jedi

Obviously if Luke actively resists then Vader wouldn't have had a chance. Earlier Luke almost resisted Sidious' attempt to use DK on him.

I doubt a muggle such as Cad Bane would know them.

Why? They're designed for muggles, at least in Legends.

Never heard of them.

Pretty sure Atton Rand was aware of some "muggle" techniques.

You mean the force sensitive Atton Rand?

But yeah, perhaps. I generally try to forget that game.

"Despite his fear, Finn raised the beam to defend himself. Ren lunged, struck—and Finn parried. Shards of light flew, illuminating the snow and the surrounding vegetation. Drawing back slightly, Ren considered his unexpectedly determined opponent, then resumed his assault with a vengeance. Finn blocked him again and again, once letting the other man’s beam slide against his own and harmlessly off to one side. He counterattacked, to no avail. The longer the contest continued, the stronger Ren seemed to become. It was as if he was enjoying the challenge. Feeding upon it. At least, it appeared so until Finn parried, swung, and unexpectedly stabbed, the tip of his lightsaber beam grazing Ren’s arm. That made it more than a challenge. Taking a step back, Ren reconsidered his opponent. When he closed the distance between them anew, it was with a purpose that had been previously lacking. Expecting an execution, he had found a contest. Now he had been touched. It was time for play to end. Advancing relentlessly, he was driven by something that Finn could not even sense, far less counter. Still the ex-trooper fought back, until Ren landed a blow that cut across Finn’s chest and sent the lightsaber flying from his hand. It landed in the snow six meters distant."

It's about throwing up lords of false emotions and never thinking of something without thinking of something else. He was Force Sensitive, but the techniques were for muggles.

Hmm? A badly injured Ren was toying with Finn. Once Finn got a lucky hit in Kylo stomped him.

"resuming his assault with a vengeance" doesn't sound like toying. And it certainly didn't look that way in the movie

Didn't NewGuy already post this?

Anyway, it does sound like Finn's #Normal for now. I'm sure it'll do wonders for his relevancy.

Finn was also still able to fight back against his "relentless" assault, albeit briefly.

Toying? In what dimension? Also confirmed it seems as though Kylo was becoming stronger as the battle continued. I can also post snippets of the Rey fight.

He was toying with him. No question.

It says Kylo seemed to be "enjoying" the fight and later on says it was "play".

So yes, toying is exactly what was going on.

They were trying to get info from him.

And also trying not to destroy his mind. Kylo doesn't give a **** if Poe's mind is destroyed.

Sith do enjoy battle.

And this is the definition of play: the conducting of an athletic match or contest.

Hopefully Finn and Phasma will square off in the future.
