"Debatably"? As I recall one source says that Galen was "no match" for the Emperor.
Was only going off of showings so if you have the quote and could provide it that would be much appreciated. I do wonder if it's taking the circumstances of Galen having fought through Imperial forces and Vader beforehand though.
Galen Marek had the potential to match Palpatine but he never realized it.
Also, I get the impression that Palpatine was not interested in killing Galen; Palpatine was interested in luring Galen to the Dark Side instead and replace Darth Vader.
The statement "strike me down" sounds familiar.
The above being said, I do not assert that Palpatine did not became serious while bombarding Galen with Force Lightning.

Actually he had the potential to surpass him.
I can agree with this sentiment though I don't understand the argument that Sidious didn't defend himself.
Thank you.

Lol @ you not even entertaining the idea, for a moment, that Sidious let him. 😬
Why would he? Everything in the scan points to Galen drawing on strong emotions to accomplish the feat. Sidious was electrocuting Kota and Galen was remembering all of his suffering was by Sidious's hand.

I take that to mean Starkiller after he had diminished his force reserves fighting Vader and Imperial forces. Also it should be noted that Yoda also was "ultimately no match for the power of Darth Sidious."

Granted Sidious was angering him but I'm pretty sure Galen would have sensed if Sidious was simply allowing him to ragdoll him around when he had trouble doing so to Vader not minutes before.

And like Yoda, Starkiller is weaker than Sheev. So I'm not sure what your point is.
