Captain Marvel

I haven't seen it yet, I'm hoping it's good because it's a tie in to endgame.

What I can say about Brie Larson is that I liked her performance in Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and I cringe every time she says anything political and cultural in real life. Actors can have absolutely shit politics and be assholes IRL and have it not affect their work. I'll have to see if that's the case or not for Brie.

I just feel like if I was starring in big movie I wouldn't be making divisive comments in the weeks/months leading up to it.

Michael Jordan said it best: even Republicans buy shoes.

If the movie is legit as bad as people are saying then then they need to choose someone different to focus their next phase on IMO.

Who said it was bad? We have multiple people saying it is good. Comic fans. You want it to be bad. Go see it and make up your mind yourself. Life is not red vs. blue. If you want to see it see it but leave the politics out of it.

The theatre was packed. Lol. It will bank. I will cheer.

Good film, arguing about gender bias is dumb. Let’s talk about it’s mertics and critiques rather then this turing into the retarded social justice warrior crusade the left wants to make to make up for its short falls.

You're right. Let's hope the film isn't as bad as the RT score suggests.

The big reveals are

Spoiler:
Fury gets his eye scratched out by a cat

The post credits are

Spoiler:
Avengers HQ after the Infinity War finale...Cap A, Romanov, Banner and Rhodes are speaking about Fury's pager as it switches off. Romanov says she wants to speak to whoever was receiving the signal and Marvel appears behind them asking "where's Fury?"

Other big points.

Spoiler:
The Skrull are actually the good guys and the Kree the bad guys

Overall pretty decent. The 1st 2 acts are very entertaining but the final third drags out and the CGI gets a bit over the top.

It's not the preachy feminist movie everyone is fearing it'll be. Or at least morons who can't separate an actor from the roles they play whinged it would be.

Anyway. A solid 7/10 from me. Some pretty funny moments. Some decent action. A pretty well fleshed out origin story without that being the main focus. Larson is generally not the wooden plank the first trailer suggested and the chemistry between her and Fury is done well.

Just saw it. Had to upgrade to 3D because the theatre was so packed. Solid entry. Must see for any true marvel fanatic. Brie was extremely likeable and the film was the perfect setup film for Endgame.

Enjoyed the Movie. Better than I thought it would be based on the trailers.
Didnt think I would like Carol's portrayal by Larsen, but i thought she was good.

Dont care for the politics surrounding this movie, so I went in just wanting to see a good movie. Didnt feel like any agenda was being pushed in my face at any time during the movie.

Awesome! Thanks for posting your reviews/opinions.

I look forward to Bruce Skywalker's opinion. Bruce, tell me what you think. I'll see it this weekend if you like it a lot.

Who cares what other people do? That is the point. You need to quit worrying about what other people are doing and just worry about how you react. You do not set the example by acting this way. You only control yourself. It is a superhero movie not life or death. Leave politics out of everything.

The problem now with the people like him who initially cried Social Justice wolf the loudest is the film's out now and men seeing it are not coming out gelded and their wives or girlfriends aren't coming out femi-nazis; there's no real feminsit-political agenda behind the film. It's simply a decent (by many accounts) action super-hero flick; which happens to have a female lead; nothing more. So now he's coping and still hasn't seen it.

It's pretty easy to spot the reviews from people who haven't seen it. They give zero detail about what actually happens in the movie and say that it's "political" or "propaganda" when it has almost nothing of either.

Movie was better than expected still it was nothing special...

I totally called it on the cat not being a cat.

Imdb already at 6.6...

Still haven't seen the movie yet but I have heard/read spoilers on how

Spoiler:
Nick Fury losing his eye because an "alien" cat scratches it out. In a way this kind of belittles the climax in Civil War where Fury's trust issues come full circle with saving the day.
, which is dumb and not even the fun kind of dumb.

Just...why?!

They were trying to be funny. It was... All right, I guess.

Just got back from Captain Marvel... It went as expected for the most part.

The movie is fine. It's all kinds of okay. It's not nearly the best MCU movie, but it's not nearly the worst. It starts off well, dips hard for the middle third, slowing to a ****ing crawl, but then picks up again towards the end.

The story itself is all right. The humour is okay for the most part. Most of the jokes land, but a fair few don't, and there are a few too many "this is why x thing is x in future movies" moments. Like

Spoiler:
Fury's eye
, for example.

Larson... She's not terrible. In the first portion of the film, when it's good, so is she. She actually looked like she was going to prove me wrong, and I was glad to see it... But she dips hard with the movie, and when things start to pick up again, she... Doesn't. Some of it is the script, sure, but you can't blame that alone. If she's going to be the Tony or Cap of the next phase, then both she and the writers have to do better.

Fury and Mendelsohn in particular steal every scene they're in, and Fury gets all the best lines. Jude Law and Annette Benning aren't bad either.

So yeah... It was fine.

I'll pass.

Good film, really enjoyed it. Funny thing is the reason for the abuse of this film and Brie on line was fake news and misinformation. Reasonable quotes from her about diversity of cast and audience, the usual online suspects took and spun.

I didn't enjoy Fury's eye, needless and pointless and not in the least bit amusing or in keeping with the movie.

To troll neckbeard fanboys, probably.

Right, yet I saw a ton of detailed reviews with 1 or 2 stars though. Trolls aren't the ones doing most of the reviewing. At least, there has been zero proof that they are.

Wait, so you mean the sanctity of White Maleness was't threatened? Surt and Squall have some explaining to do then.

To be fair to surtur he actually said he didn't think it would be an SJW film. Squall on the other hand... did. It was more people who had just fallen down the rabbit hole of online misogyny to be honest. If you read Brie's comments they were all either tongue in cheek or taken out of context.
