Star Wars: The Last Jedi

You know, something I think both of the new movies don't do very well is to really explain just how far reaching The First Order's influence and power-scope really is. Like is it even really set in stone that they are actually in control of most of the galaxy at this point? I always got the impression that they are much smaller than the Empire and probably just don't quite have the numbers/budget to really subjugate the entire galaxy, especially now that their super weapon is destroyed.

Yes The explanation of the political climate in these films has been atrocious.

The bring Lucas back for Ep.9 petition after TFA grew way quicker.

By ripping off ESB AND ROTJ? Yeah, right 😐

Really?

You love TFA and you’re actually gonna claim TLJ ripped off the OT? Really?

And no wonder. THAT actually had a (slim) chance of succeeding.

It did rip it off and was in a bad taste, extremely anticlimatic.

TLJ is some like some random *fanmade* Youtube scenes playing after each other.

Yes, that's how TFA and TLJ felt to me, too.

Why are you defending this movie so much? It wasn't anything like R1 or TFA.

Sure, it wasn't a total waste, but we're really just going to ignore how anti-climatic this shit was?

because to me it was a great film...

I liked it too. Despite the flaws. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, this weekend.

Wish we could hang, Bruce.

There were certain familiar scenes like the Snoke/Rey/Kylo stuff being reminiscent off the Palpatine/Vader/Luke scene from ROTJ. But even that ended up playing very differently.

TFA on the other hand was a complete ANH rip off. So I find it strange you’re complaining about this one being a rip off when you loved TFA.

You can copy someone else's work and still end up with a good result... or you can copy someone and made a total travesty of his work, that's the case with TLJ.

Poor Mark is taking it really bad...

What did they do to him?

Completely raped his character.

He's clearly angry over the overtly incorrect portrayal of Luke's character.

He's very pragmatic, but it's obvious it wasn't what he wanted. I don't know how much that matters though.

Right.

However, why did he do it? He's right on the border of just exploding with rage over what they did. Could he not protest and threaten to walk? Why did he stick to it if he's upset about it?

I wonder if Rian Johnson will ever be able to walk the street without bodyguards protecting his anus.

He's done on this planet.

The fans? I mean he's right at the end of TFA, I don't know if he knew that's where the new director would take the character

Apparently that video is very misleadingly edited and leaves out the part where he says "but then I watched the movie and was convinced it was the right call".

tbf could be a backhanded compliment, "oh geez I thought <insert devastating criticism> but otherwise I liked the movie!"
