Right. However, why did he do it? He's right on the border of just exploding with rage over what they did. Could he not protest and threaten to walk? Why did he stick to it if he's upset about it?
I think it's a mix of creative editing and, even if he was unhappy with it, I just don't think he's the kind of guy to take his ball and go home. Plus, I really don't think he would want anyone else to play Luke.
My best guess is, even if he didn't like it, he was still thinking to himself "Well, I don't trust anyone else to make Luke work, so I might as well".
Kind of like the comments McGregor and McKellan have made about their respective characters.

Its up there with the greatest pieces of shit in movie history. They're utter garbage from almost every measure. But they are still brilliant.
Indeed. Still love the shit out of the shitty Star Wars OT and PT. 🙂

Bleh....you're probably right. What you said about Hamill sounds about right.
But it doesn't mean I have to be happy with it. uhuh I can sulk with frumped eyebrows in the corner with my green milk, if I want to.

Oh, I ****ing hate it. Star Wars was the first "thing" I got in to as a kid. Other kids loved Han Solo, Vader, Chewie or R2, but I was a massive Luke fan. When I would get Star Wars toys (the Kenner ones were ridiculously cheap back then), I would always check to see if there was a new Luke figure. Even now, at the age I am, I have 3 different versions of ROTJ Luke alone in some form or another (pops, figures etc). He's top 5 fictional characters of all time fo rme.
I hate, HATE how he was treated in TLJ, but for some reason I don't feel mad about it. I just feel... Sad, almost. The fact that
Spoiler:, but ask me again in six months and maybe I'll be as angry about it as I was with how they're treating Aquaman in DC.
he was gone was I think more of a kick than how badly he was treated

TBF x2 the PT are more or less objectively terrible movies for a huge number of reasons. Some of them are unfortunate in that they're the result of mishandling new technology and techniques (Attack of the Clones was the first major film to be shot on high-definition digital cameras, which is why it looks like such ass) but overall those movies are just poorly acted, directed and thought out in general.
I disagree, of course. I think the acting was decent and very well thought out: a masterpiece that segues into the OT oh so nicely.

In this case a lot of people seem to be getting triggered by how the film makes Luke look like shit for most of it. Which probably exacerbates the other perceived issues with the film more than they really merit.
Well, and some of the other bullshitty things.
We can laugh and poke fun of the horrendously stupid plot holes and acting in the OT but there's some of that in the ST and PT, as well.
Casual movie goers on reddit were ripping apart the OT scenes, acting, and dialogue when it was posted. That's how normal people see it. Normal. Not Star Wars nerds like us.

I am the same.
Luke was my fav. I liked him a lot because he went from a kid to a mother fuggin' badass that could even fight Vader and win, in RotJ (spoilers!!!! OMG, he beats Vader in sabes!)
And his RotJ outfit? Awesome. Top tiddies and it still has aged well, imo. It's just a damn good lookin' outfit.
And as a kid, it's easy to see that Luke might be tempted to fall to the dark side. He can choose to save everyone from the "armed and fully operational battlestation." He can see how awesome the dark side is. And how even his father, who he seems to respect and care about, still stays strong in loyalty to Palps.
But he decides no. And he is resolute about it. Feels damn good! We are just kids. And this guy is a role model for us. A hero. A badass. Who still sticks up for truth and righteousness and never gives up even until the very bleakest of moments. No. Matter. What.
We saw him grow up! It was such a fun adventure, too, wasn't it? Soooooo fun! And exciting. And emotional! And he has wonderful friends we really care about.
That's OT Luke.

Yeah...
From the new films I think there's plenty to like. The scripts just aren't one of those things. I hope Finn gets to actually have some real impact in the next movie. I hope they round out Rey as a character a bit more. And at least one new planet that's creatively constructed.

Pretty sure Vader said on more than one occasion that Luke should join the dark side and help him over throw the emperor so they could rule the galaxy as father and son. I wouldn't say Vader was that loyal to Palps.
